Curses! Why must you taunt me with new episodes, but not have them ready on blip?! You win again, Cinema Snob!
nah crap! i was looking forward towards watching this before calling it a day but bing has to be a bitch again...just my luck.
Didn't expect you to cover this so soon after mentioning it in the Hercules episode. Then again, you did do that sequel right after so maybe this was expected.
So now to play the waiting game
Works fine on my end. Have you guys tried emptying your cache? That typically does the trick when blip is acting slow.
Hey, that worked! Thanks!
Chiz, bro. Hadn't thought of that.
Just thought of this, but since you already covered three of the five worst picture nominees of 1983, will we see the other two before the year is over?
One, Brad cameoed in another guy's review (Jaws 3-D). But the other, Stroker Ace with Burt Reynolds, maybe that's material for an episode!
Stroker Ace does look like it'd make a decent episode. But I'm pissed I forgot about his Jaws 3-D cameo. Especially since it was my favorite part. And I would like to see the entire video of him just talking about Manimal
Damn you've been prolific lately. I love it.
Holy shit, that's a Radiodrome song! I didn't know Pia Zadora sang that!
Josh played a Pia Zadora song? That's probably the one decent thing he's done.
How the fuck do you write so damn much and so efficiently, Brad?
Not sure if it's blip or your movie copy but there's some noticeable audio desync towards the end of your review.
WARY. When you're feeling defensive or cautious about something, you feel WARY. Weary means TIRED.
FUCK. I'm so sick of people screwing this up. They aren't even close!
I'm sure you'll be fine =)
Dont loose youre shit over it.
It's funny because 'diarrhea'.
I hate that show too.
No "Butterfly"? You could make it "Pia Zadora" month. A favorite rental of mine from the video store when I was 15.
Throw Voyage of the Rock Aliens in there, too. Brad hasn’t done a musical in a while.
Lloyd Bochner was probably mad at Pia because one of her scripts was titled "To Serve Man," to which he screamed, "It's a cook book! It's a cook book!"
The whole ceremony and "fucking your way to the top" thing got me thinking of the episode of Tales From the Crypt I saw just yesterday; "Beauty Rest"...I felt the episode was total crap. Now, after watching *this* thing, it doesn't seem so bad anymore.
...God, my head hurts after saying that. I need to watch more movies where people throw stuff into space. Anyone have a copy of Suburban Commando I could borrow?
I agree, Brad. It frustrates me so when everyone unanimously hates unjustly on a movie I love.
Be it "Mommy Dearest" or "Daredevil", we're not so different. :-)
I saw Daredevil in the theater and thought it was fine, but I really liked the added courtroom drama with Matt Murdock in the director's cut and the decision to 86 the confessionals and the love scene.
Wow! Here I thought Film Master Adam & I are the ONLY ones with love DD!
Yeah, while I dug the concept of Matt trying to find some clarity in a confessional, I didn't care for the priest knowing who he was BEFORE he found him wounded on the floor. As for the love scene I suppose it was meant to say he & Elektra are kindred spirits, I guess? Either way I didn't need it, no more than I needed their friendly duel in the playground. . . but it's still a fave of mine.
Yeah, actually love the director's cut of that film myself and watched it recently. Everyone really gave it their all and MCD worked pretty well as Kingpin. Oddly a lot of folks I know that stated to dislike it haven't actually *seen* it, somehow they just got "Ben Affleck" to rhyme with stupid. Nick Cage seems to fall in the same category with those folks.
Indeed, Michael Clarke Duncan ruled as Kingpin. He easily pulled off the powerful crime lord/businessman while still having fun (brutally killing security guards then gently asking for a cloth to clean off his cane). Wish he had more screen time though, nothing against Colin Farrell as an actor, but Bullseye is NOT a campy character.
As for Nicolas Cage, not being a huge fan I was pissed when I heard he was cast as Johnny Blaze 'cause the comics I read Blaze was a young blonde guy. . . Cage is neither. If they wanted him so badly he should've been Danny Ketch.
All that said, he's entertaining as hell to watch!
wow, when the Lonely Lady song started i though wtf it sounds just like Moment by Moment!
Well, both movies are terrible, so of course their songs sound similar. First time I heard it though, I thought it was a troll moment, or that he thought the moment by moment theme for here too
Nice! Maybe now I can get around to watch Star 80 and Lovelace and just forget this trainwreck of a movie.
I don't know how much more WTF Hollywood movies you have coming the rest of this year, but keep 'em coming!
Is WTF Hollywood gonna be your thing, now, Brad? Don't get me wrong, I still like your videos, but I kinda got into your show because of the underground stuff you used to review like 'video violence'. I remembered seeing the box cover in my video store but never renting it, so it was cool to see that video and know what it was about.
Only 8 of the 29 episodes he's done this year have been WTF Hollywood episodes. The rest have all been Italian exploitation, pornos, slasher films, and strange horror like usual.
No matter what type of movie he does, someone in the comments ASSURES us that is the only type he does "now". Most recently it was biopics.
I bet Ray Liotta is grateful that Martin Scorsese didn't see this movie or he would have reconsidered casting him as Henry Hill in Goodfellas.
The review was funny. A very strange movie, though. It looks like it could turn into one of your porn reviews at any moment.
Let me tell you something broskis, back in the day, Pia Zadora would set my dinger on fire!!
Lo-Ooh-only lady, like a ladder to the sun, I know it's not that far.
I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that the 'dee' part of 'lady' was suspiciously absent from the song during those snip-its.
Turns into, ‘Loo-ooooohhh-nly, laaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy’
You know the entire time I couldn't help but feel slightly squicked out. During the whole marriage scene it felt like Some 40 year old marrying a 15 year old. Seriously how old was this character supposed to be?
I love it when you cover movies like this. We always learn a little something.
Nice theme song, Black Elton John.
The Paranoia oscar speech was glorious
Brad is my favorite thing since Nixon!
While he is my favorite critic, I don't know if I prefer Brad over Dwayne Johnson... they're about even as my two favorite people of all time.
You need to review La Mujer Murcielago, Mexican Batwoman. I bet it doesn't even have subtitles.
It can't be any worse than "Wild Wild World of Batwoman". Or "Bat Pussy" for that matter.
This movie looks like it was suppose to be a porn but someone got a bunch of low grade has beens and decided to remove all hard core sex.
That soundtrack gave me cancer.
Rape by garden hose… can't say I've seen that before.
I didn't see any other comments mentioning this, but I thought you should know there seems to be a sound flub around the 18:30 mark. Not sure if it was just me or not.
I've really been enjoying WTF Hollywood, so thanks for spotlighting some very different stuff, Brad. Especially the take-thats at some of the stupider, bandwagon criticism. Like the Razzies and the tasteless commenters who were ripping in Pia like you mentioned.
This one seemed like it would have been perfectly suited to be a Lifetime Original movie about 10 years later and on a smaller budget. Then again, it wasn't just men treating Jerilee like crap.
Oh, come on Snob Jared Martin was in this and you didn't give him a shout out. I loved the video but dude, haven't you seen the war of the worlds tv show, that guy is a legend.
snob when are you going to start reviewing violent/ contrveirsal movies like cannibal ferox or like you promosied in that jim jones episode that you would review eaten alive
i really dont like these mellow reviews you are making now, i enjoy the gory crappy zombies you review, faces of death and cannibal flicks not this . d
Yeah, he's straying from his roots to appease a different audience, snob please get back to exploitation, and I mean real exploitation not that soft stuff or porn.
lol, like how other people have said, only 8 of the 29 episodes I've done this year have bee WTF Hollywood episodes. The rest of them are the slashers, the pornos, the italian exploitation films, like always.
But Brad, this year I've only seen The Babe Ruth Story and The Lonely Lady episodes, which clearly means that ALL EPISODES THIS YEAR ARE LIKE THE BABE RUTH STORY AND THE LONELY LADY!
I take it that a primary motivator for these less... racy... reviews is having material you can air on YouTube? I'm fine with this.
PS: The Crippled Masters. Please. <3
It's Brad's show, he can do whatever the *fuck* he wants!
I'd really like to see what the snob has to say about The Crippled Masters. I was thinking about The Fault in Our Stars and the word cripplesploitation came to mind in a different sense... then I realized that was probably a thing. After googling it for the lulz I was not disappointed.
5-foot-7? My fellow shorty! :p
I am very disappointed by the lack of references to "Voyage of the Rock Aliens" in this review of a Pia Zadora film.
Wow, you finally did it! This is up there with Showgirls and The Legend of Lylah Clare amidst my most loved of Hollywood megaton bombs. The typewriter freakout scene is a work of cheese-tastic art.
Will we be seeing more Harold Robbins adaptations in the future? There were a number of them, all hilariously terrible (beware: The Adventurers is three freaking hours long!).
Hey there, Explorer. I dont know if you'll see this but I am the one that was watching your reviews on Blip and leaving comments there about how much I liked them. Now they're on YT and I have done the same there there as well. I wanted to let you know that even though you did it first, I like both yours and the Snob's take on Lonely Lady. I like them both, for different reasons. Also, I saw how you would comment on Brad's old site, and how you comment here too. That's cool as well. Say hi too Liza for me! (yuk yuk)
more like the baloney lady
I just rewatched this to hear Brad's amazing, almost lilting, reading of "beat out Lou Ferrigno throwing a bear into space for worst film of the year"
Holy shit she was 30 when she made this!
So we start with her winning an Oscar for best screenplay, I think, then we see her write two best-selling books, and then she can't get anyone to even look at anything else she writes? What? This would be like if Elon Musk invented something new tomorrow and investors wouldn't even talk to him.
Yeah, I've never understood why people hate on Pia Zadora. I think her first husband exploited her a bit, but she's far from untalented.
Some of the older archived videos of 2009 were brought over from the youtube account before thecinemasnob.com was created, so please forgive the lesser video quality of such as some did not transfer well.
