The new Lone Ranger got the Ishtar treatment. They wrote the reviews 7-8 months before the film was released, and reviewed the budget, not the film, which actually had merit. I'm inclined to agree with Quentin Tarantino that it was one of the best films of 2013.
The Seth Rogen "Green Hornet" was great, too.
Green Hornet was "great"?
I think you have just proven you are suffering some kind of medical problem.
Might want to get that seen to and fast.
Production "sabotage" aside...the new Lone Ranger film was terrible...no matter what QT said.
Seth Rogen's THE GREEN HORNET was the cinematic equivalent of shit taking a shit. Horrendous!!!!
Yeah that explains all those terrible reviews for other extreme big budgeted movies like Avatar, Harry Potter, The Avengers, Toy Story 3, and Tangled.
Thanks for misquoting me, asshole. The reviews of The Lone Ranger were reviewing the PRODUCTION, not the film. Whenever a film has production problems, it inevitably gets panned by the critics, like Apocalypse Now, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Heaven's Gate, Ishtar, etc. Read up on the history of Hollywood filmmaking and reception. Film critics who do reviews like this are not writing about how the director fell, they are saying "How dare that director rise?" They are condemning his success, not his failure.
Incidentally, before anyone tries to rip me to shreds, when I wrote "like this", I was referring to a specific type of review where only the production is being reviewed and not the film's merits. I was not criticizing Brad Jones' opinion of the movie, so don't get your panties in a twist.
I wasn't interested in seeing the new Lone Ranger movie, because I wasn't into The Lone Ranger franchise that much, and I never saw it to this day, and I probably MIGHT someday.
1:13- At the time of me writing this comment, The Lone Ranger is now rated 31% on Rotten Tomatoes.
10:22- And this review was made 2 years before the Heaven's Gate 3-parter.
15:49- Thanks for the Back to the Future joke, 'cause I've been waitin' for one of those.
17:30- Oh, please don't, because the BTTF Trilogy are my favorite Christopher Lloyd movies.
Goddamn it Tonto, now you gave me herpes!
I just realized I've seen this movie... they showed it to me in elementary school O.o
