Saaki wouldn't believe the fucking stupidity of the people in this blasted down! I think we need to float this town away!!
eh, Invader Zim did it better.
FETCH THE BUCKET!
"It was nice working with you, Gir. Now self-destruct." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ca42IUBB6Q
And then Crypto-136 levels the entire town... (if only)
God, I remember the TV spots for this...
one thing that I kept thinking about during this review, is that the aliens in this film looks like if the Arch Vile drank a bunch of Ecto Cooler and crapped out a bunch of mutated off springs who were rejected from the Irken Empire.
I watched this in a Drive-In theater back in the day. It would be nice to get a DVD release of this... Unless I missed a release, in which case !@%#$^$@#!!
Yes, it's out on DVD:
There's even a BluRay of it.
... Okay how did I miss that?
i loved this film as a kid growing up. i dunno why but i did. i also for some reason always think Randy Quaid is in it, again i dunno why maybe it just feels like a film he would do. i also wonder what i'd think of of today if i watched it? i do love the costumes in it though.
thanks for bringing back the memories Brad.
You're probably thinking of "Martians Go Home" from the same year.
this film is brought to you in part by Atari. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opVmjPGzBUg
Any of you seen Evil Alien Conquerors?
I think it's best to save the review of Windy City for Valentine's Day. Also, Kazaam got a DVD release? ...Well, let's Green Egg and Ham it.
With how the lead Martians in this film look and talk, am I the only one thinking about that old Nickelodeon show "The Butt Ugly Martians"?
2:41- Speaking as a Star Wars Prequel Trilogy fan, NO, it does NOT!
4:25- God bless ya, Brad, for whenever you make fun of that dirty, sexist, racist, lying, heartless, mindless, Putin sympathizing, pussy grabbing, Nazi loving, power hungry, money grabbing, self-centered, tax evading, coke snorting, tan bedding, wig wearing, unapologetic, hate mongering, hypocritical, bigot of an asshole.
5:59- HA! I was also thinking Back to the Future.
The more of this movie I see, the more I realize I actually remember watching chunks of this movie when I was really young. And I wish that this WAS Halloween 4.
13:23- Nice shot, Captain AmeriDuck.
While I disagree with you on the special effects looking better than today's CG, I agree that this movie looks more classy and retro in black & white, ...AND 2-sided DVDs are a bitch.
I like the Shaq Fu part. My biggest video game guilty pleasure.
meh, I prefer Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. as a guilty pleasure. at least that has some interesting character designs and awesome music by Aubrey Hodges (who also did the music for Doom 64 and the PSX Doom games). plus, it was made by Midway. however, I can see why some people may like Shaq Fu......kind of. at least it's still better than Superman 64 and/or E.T. for the Atari 2600.
I thought Butt Ugly Martians right away. Also is Aliens in the Attack a bit of a remake?
It's Aliens in the ATTIC, and I haven't seen that movie.
12:42 -- Finally, a topical clown joke.
Holy shit. So that's where "Prepare to die, Earth-scum" is from; totally forgot about that line. I remember it being way overused.
I saw this ALL the time on Disney channel as a kid. I own it on DVD and have a mini poster of it. Brings back fond memories. Great review as always. ^_^
I also watched the hell out of this film on Disney Channel as a kid. I think not seeing it on the big screen moderated my expectations enough that it wasn't a disappointing experience.
Judging by the ending this movie is a really bad prequel to Colors Out of Space.
Speaking of silly aliens, odes anybody else remember Morons form Outer Space? It had Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones in it.
Can't wait to see the Lloyd episode of this. Plus, love the Nukie poster in the background
Nice tidbit here. The Assistant Director on my short film Dead of Night is actually friends to some degree with Patrick Read Johnson. He spoke about 5-25-77 during production. Johnson's apparently from Wadsworth, Illinois which isn't that far from the Waukegan / Highland Park area our AD secured some key shooting locations. One of which was an alleyway briefly used in the Risky Business car chase scene. This is some six degrees of Kevin Bacon shit right here.
Anyway, I've been waiting a decade for 5-25-77 to get a wide release. Seems it will get one on the Star Wars 40th anniversary date in 2017.
