Oh dear lord, this could not have been an easy sit......
Hope you Snob God's Not Dead 2 pretty soon!
Wow dude, I usually love the Snob episodes on the Christploitation movies, but don't you think this is a little heavy for this show? I don't see a way to make this material funny. I know you've done Nazisploitation movies before, but we're far enough removed from WWII where jokes about it are fine and common. There's still a new mass shooting almost every year. This is almost like doing a Snob episode on a Pure Flix 9/11 movie.
Episodes on Charles Manson, WWII, Jonestown, Wired, child brides, plus original movies featuring rape squirrels? A-ok.
Respectful and analytical review of a Columbine movie? Too. Fucking. Far.
Yes, it was respectful and analytical, which is kind of my point. This is a GOOD video, but I can't say it was really all that funny or fit with the rest of the show. You can't really go all into the Cinema Snob character for a movie like this.
This is also the tone I had for Wired and The Helter Skelter Murders. Not every episode is purely riff based, and even in episodes like this and the ones I mentioned, there's still Snobby moments. If you don't like episodes like this, just stick to the kinds you do like.
Brad didn't make this movie.
The SHITHEADS at Pure Flix thought this was a movie worth making. THEY were the ones who took a real-life tragedy and turned it into religious propaganda.
You can look at this movie two ways: you can laugh at it, or you can cry because a bunch of self-victimizing bastards at Pure Flix spun a tragedy into exploitation.
If ever such a movie were made, this would be the place to tear it a new asshole. And maybe Lindsay too.
If I were a parent of this horrible event, I'd try and start a class-action suit against these fuckers for emotional distress and slander.
you know what, if there was a really terrible movie made by Pure flix about 9/11, I'd have no problem with it being on this show. I think the jokes in this video made watching this, because of the heavy handedness of the subject matter, a lot easier to watch.
Oh, fuck me, they really did this?
Nice job, dude.
Yeah, you're right, it could have been much worse...but still, demonizing video games in 2016. And just how many duckfuckers are there? They aren't Catholic, aren't Mormon, I don't think they're that creepy Duggar Quiverfull cult, but they could still field their own baseball team.
Plus I kinda wonder about the context in that line associating Hitler with natural selection; given this film's target audience, that could go in a completely different direction than what I would think if I heard it.
A little tasteless? I think you were kinder than I would have been in your place.
The next PureFlix film should focus on Christians who were rounded up by the atheist Hitler (who also pushed government healthcare) and killed in the concentration camps for their beliefs.
So Pureflix is making a Donald Trump documentary? I'd buy that for a dollar
Well at least this might shut up the people who think Columbine was just a conspiracy and all an act. Fuck me, am I glad I work with animals.
Some days you just have to wonder does Pureflix get ideas from watching Giallo a Venezia or the Guinea Pig films on a repeated loop.
I'll admit I've gotten to the point that except for cases like Old Fashioned, where what's presented is so stupid that it deserves comment, my shoulders tend to slump when I see that Le Snob will be Snobberizing a Pure Flix (or any other) Christiansploitation film.
That said, I enjoyed this. Snob-sama took to giving the hara-kiri to the film's ridiculous amounts of foreshadowing the attack on the school and planted cherry blossoms on the rest of the story, noting that it's a bit cheesy and not always well scripted, but it seemed like the film simply wasn't bad if they'd taken out all the foreshadowing.
And tip of the shillelagh to Pure Flix for daring to put out a reasonable treatment of teenagers.
I think that having her portrayed as a truly good Christian actually makes this film more insulting, as the fact that it doesn't really address the other students who were killed makes it look like this film is trying to say that because this girl was strong in her faith, she was a lot more important than any of the other shooting victims, which really insults not only the memory of them, but also of their families.
Also, its incredibly ironic that a company that routinely makes films about some of the most psychotic characters on the planet merely portrays the shooters as teens replicating corrupt popular culture, instead of the deeply disturbed individuals that they were.
If anyone wants to see an accurate portrayal of the events of what happened at Columbine high school, check out the docudrama Zero Hour. You can see the Columbine episode on youtube.
i of course remember as we all do when this happend and i didn't follow it at all because rather than being interested in what was going on at the time i had my own high school issues as it was my Seinor y ear that year. i also think that story of it if done right could have been a pretty good movie, but doing it this way was simply awful. like brad here said as the snob and no doubt himself as well
they should have told us more about why these assholes killed these kids and went bat shit and started doing that. i don't remember if it was because these dumbfucks blamed video games or not but i've never believed video can cause anyone to do anything like this the same goes for music too or movies etc.. the point of video games is if they are say Mortal Kombat or a violent video game is if you are pissed at the world or just having a shitty game you can take it out on the bad guys in the video game and get it out of your system so shit like this doesn't happen. by the looks of it these idiots didn't like they were in this film at all let alone explain why they did what they did. again if the right people made it and with people who had talent it could have been a good movie. i also had no idea this movie was even out at all. i remember brad talking about it but i didn't know it came out.
One thing that angers me about this movie, now that I think about it, is the fact that Dave Sanders, a man who GAVE HIS LIFE trying to save the lives of students and staff in the school is not mentioned and apparently doesn't matter to the people who made this movie. The fact that he saved many people's lives that day, or attempted to, is a very Christin thing in my opinion.
I knew this movie was coming but it still feels so weird that it exists.
This one had to be hard to sit through
You mentioned Wired, that's one of my favorite reviews, I liked how you hit the right balance of humor and criticism for that movie. I think you hit it again here.
Great review as always, Bradley. It's always wonderful when I can open up your website and say, "It's that time of the month."
I, like most people, love it when someone rants about a subject at least one time each and every month. Speaking of which, you should do these as monthly crossovers with Nash Bozard and Josh Hadley.
Also, Asian actors should never portray white characters or vice versa. Did the outrage surrounding Ghost in the Shell teach Pure Flix nothing?
If you´re going for german stuff: did you watch some of the Olaf Ittenbach Films like for example Premutos or Burning Moon?
They might please your... your... hhhmmmm... I don´t know, check for yourself :D
And to get do something completely different: I would LOVE to see a review of Star Crash. It´s a italian Star Wars Rip-Off with Christopher Plummer and David Hasselhoff. I absolutely adore this picture.
Sorry for the double-posting:
I totally thought I was commenting the German Macho Man Review...
my reference to german movies doesn´t make sense at all in this context.
If you want, you can move my post.
If you don´t care.... so won´t I ;)
I just heard that Pure Flix is making another God's Not Dead movie that's suppose to come out this year. God help us all in 2017; both in the movies and in real life.
0:19- Jesus Christ. I'd rather be watching The Babe Ruth Story than this film.
2:34- Speaking as a Christian myself, I can already tell by this movie's premise that it's gonna be VERY eyebrow raising from start to finish.
6:43- I'm just gonna go ahead and say that NO ONE acts like this when I'm in church.
8:07- That's also the same reaction when Trump was learning about Hitler.
11:13- Of course Pure Flix blames the video games for everything violent. WHAT A FUCKIN' SURPRISE.
13:07- Already better than the Movie Movies spoofing movies that were recently released.
15:00- I don't know, Brad. I'm too iffy on calling a woman a "hot pussied little whore."
17:38- Why are there such a thing as characters who hiss at people who are of a certain religion. Regardless, people of certain religions are STILL people.
19:40- Please don't remind me of something worse than the movie Top Dog.
"I'm Not Shamed," huh. Well, Pure Flix, you SHOULD be ashamed.
25:26- ...Um? ...Thanks?
Some of the older archived videos of 2009 were brought over from the youtube account before thecinemasnob.com was created, so please forgive the lesser video quality of such as some did not transfer well.
