Sorry. My bad.
Nice shot at Josh Hadley, Brad. Haha. PALM TREES!!
Also might be a knock at josh for the joke that "I hate those 80s slashers that I never saw".
Nah, that line is most likely a knock at movie critics, specifically Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert, who would constantly bring down 80s slasher films even though they never watched half of them. Just watch their slasher special on YouTube and you'll get a better idea.
I never got the problem with that statement, it doesn't make it a bad movie(and josh never said it did iirc), but it is a fair question why they didn't set it somewhere with palm trees, or why they filmed palm trees if it was set somewhere they don't grow.
That line wasn't really a shot at Josh, it was just simply referencing the palm trees and that this movie got a lot harsher reviews than the first.
Aside from that though, I was on Radiodrome with Josh many times where he referenced the palm trees as a reason he thought the movie was bad.
Yeah, there was that Halloween Retrospective episode of Radiodrome where Josh mentioned the palm trees. And it was maybe a poor choice of words to call it "a shot" at Josh, Brad- but it was totally referring to him :P
Also, the hot tub nurse in this movie is easily the most attractive actress in all of the Halloween series. Apart from maybe (grown-up!) Danielle Harris in the Rob Zombie films. But I'd rather pretend they don't exist.
I rather rewatch the Rob Zombie Halloweens than even try to sit through Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers and Halloween: Resurrection again...especially after seeing all of the movies again several weeks ago after getting Anchor Bay and Scream Factory's massive 15 disc Halloween box set.
Tell me about it. I'll go further once Carpenter and Dean Cundey left the Halloween films never looked or felt right. Not keen on the first Zombie Halloween, but I really like the second one.
Agreed. In fact looking back at it, 5 and 8 are the ones I regret starring in the most.
But, all of them have at least one hot chick (not to mention all the female characters in this are quite good looking)
Halloween 3 had Teddy, the red head (I love red heads)
4 had Rachel
5 had. . . um. . . Rachel for 10 minutes?
6's lead actress was fine, but her pal Beth was HOT
7 had Josh Hartnett's girlfriend's dark haired friend
8 had, for some reason, Katee Sackoff, & the lead was pretty
As you said, the remake has Danielle Harris, but Mike's sis is pretty hot (not to mention she's the now grown up Jenny from "Forest Gump, in case you need more "child actor becomes racy" issues)
Finally, H2 I've only seen once but I remember Laurie's gal pals were pretty fine.
Hey Brad, when are you going to do that cinematic abomination 'Exorcist II: The Heretic'?
He probably never will, it was already a Nostalgia Critic episode a few years ago.
So? NC's reviewed movies others already reviewed, like "The Room". Who hasn't reviewed that mess?
Also, I mean no disrespect, but didn't he (as nostalgia critic) review 'The Purge" recently? How the hell is that nostalgic? It just came out.
Yep Nostalgia Critic has reviewer dibs
My attitude on that issue is always, "Who cares?"
I don't think that just because one reviewer has covered a movie, that means others (even from TGWTG) shouldn't also be allowed to do so.
I enjoy hearing a bunch of different perspectives on things. Nostalgia Critic would handle Exorcist II in one way, while Cinema Snob would in another. Hell, I'd also like to see a Phelous video on it, too.
Of course, the whole "If one reviewer covers something, none of the others should" thing could be a TGWTG rule. If that's the case, then it's none of my business.
Sigmund Freud taught me that sex and death are pretty much what life is about.
And mummy issues. Never forget those.
Mum's the word!
And they can be used interchangeably in movie plots. Imagine how angry Keanu Reeves would be if someone had sex with his dog...
Odd, and here I thought 80's Dan would be reviewing this. Then again, that wouldn't make any sense because Dan is currently in the process of making a movie that will become the greatest thing on earth.
Also dude, it was funny when you made fun of your older videos last year, but now it seems a little stupid because you look the same, and you're filming in the same chair. I dunno, seems a little dumb, like it was funnier when we could all tell that it was clearly a younger you in a different house.
Anyway! I'm glad you're still making videos, and I loved this review. It really helped me get over the shitty day I had today.
Also I swear to Jesus on a pineapple, this video is the first thing this entire month that put me in the Halloween spirit. Like before I was just pissed because it felt like just another stupid month of people on the internet spouting of jokes on current memes like Disney's Frozen, which is a hype that I hope dies out fairly soon.
Like slap me in the face with a bitch's bathrobe and call me a dog! I am tired of Disney being the talk of the town 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it's fucking up my holiday spirit! It certainly fucked up my holiday spirit last year.
It wasn't so much me making fun of last year's video, I was just showing the end of the episode because Halloween II shows the ending of the Halloween.
Now that you say it that way, I guess it was appropriate to the occasion.
By the way. I'm so honored that you responded to my comment! You're like my favorite reviewer of all time! I think you may have even changed my sense of humor a little. Thank you so much! This day just got a hundred thousand times better for me.
Sounds like someone needs to... 'let it go'
... I *HAD* to!
More like everybody else needs to 'let it go'. By the way, that song is all but amazing, it's simply "decent", just like most of Disney's previous works.
But you're right! I just need to let society do it's thing, the more I hate things in pop culture, the more I enjoy watching The Cinema Snob. It's good to know that hipsters like me have a shelter of obscure movie reviewing from the GOD that is Brad.
Seriously though, Brad, thanks for making my life feel a lot more tolerable. Because of you I've found one other reason to be slightly optimist outside of reading horoscopes.
No Rhody, you go ahead & enjoy your 15 minutes of happiness. Brad responded to me once. . . once. I was very thrilled but eventually I had to move on & enjoy life/future Snob episodes. But by all means take it all in, no matter how brief it's a good feeling.
I think 'let it go' is so popular because disney hasnt had a song remembered outside of its movies since the late 90s. i cant recall any song from any of the new ones. ive had to watch them while sitting my neices and nephews, cant remember one of them.
So what? It's not like there aren't any other musicians out there doing shit. What's so special about Disney? Nothing that's what. They've lost their charm, they've lost their creativity (I seriously haven't enjoyed a single Disney film since that atrocity WALL-E came out), and they've lost their likability.
I don't even want to talk about this, I've talked SO much about how I hate Disney on the internet that I just don't care anymore. I guess Inquisitor is right, I just need to let it go and just grumble to myself rather than share my clearly outspoken opinion on the internet.
Ok we get it you hate Disney and you hate Frozen, you are not some special snowflake by saying so. There are more people on the internet that comment on how much they are sick of that movie, than there are people who actually enjoy it. Also Disney Animation is starting to get it's stride back and becoming less dependent on Pixar, from what I hear Moana seems like a very unique film and will hopefully be good. Just watch the snob and calm down.
No, Disney is still losing it's flavor, it's been losing it's flavor since WALL-E, maybe a even a little before then.
However, YES, I understand that you "get it", that's why I clearly stated that I need to let society, in it's infinite lack of wisdom, do it's thing.
I have no intention of ranting about Disney any more, I've wasted literally entire days of my life ranting and raving over how unoriginal , predictable, and bland Disney is today. I have spoken countless times on how idiotic the modern Disney fanbase is, and I have come to the inevitable conclusion that I've clearly outgrown Disney, and it's time for me to just ignore it.
So alas! No more! I will rant about it no more! I am calm! I am at peace!
I honestly think you're the one who's overeacting a little, I understand, Jane, that you're probably just pissed because Tarzan never fucks you, but you should probably let your emotions out on him rather than direct it at random people. I understand being alone on an island with no more than two people can have a destructive impact upon your social skills, but I know that's a sacrifice that you're willing to take in order to live a happy life, so I respect you for that very deeply.
Sigh... I may have taken that joke a little too far...
Wow you think?
And for the record Wall-E is a Pixar property, not Disney Animation.
My friends and I have a joke that the reason Jamie Lee Curtis did so little in the film is because she was actually doing literally everyone else's parts. She directed and acted all of the roles, she catered, and she introduced Dana Carvey to Lorne Michaels.
Also I love Pop-Up Michael Myers in the beginning. The real tragedy of the film is that that girl didn't have depth perception.
Ben Tramer forever!
Awesome, another Halloween flick! Halloween 2 is such an unjustly hated movie (I feel). I understand it takes away Mikey's mysteriousness & cheapens out with the "I'm your relative" twist, but for a what if. . . continuation it's not that bad. When it comes to 3 I often wish I could visit an else world where everyone isn't so damn close minded & it was a hit, therefore continuing with new & different stories for what could happen on Halloween (after seeing the Dredd sequel, of course). But, at least we have "Trick 'r Treat". With the exception of the Anna Paquin crap that's a fun Halloween flick!
Great review Brad. Happy Halloween to you.
I've just finished re-watching one of your old episodes, dubious Die Hard clone Crackerjack.
Do you think you'll ever get round to follow up movie Hostage Train? It looks suitably awful.
Great review, Brad. Very funny! Though, the shocked cop at the school wasn't on my vhs copy of the movie, odd. Also, I do like this but I never understood Laurie's flashback, mostly because while I assumed the boy was Michael I had no idea who those two girls were. So thank you for the explanation :)
Did you notice the "therapeutic" hot tub had a setting of "scalding" on the dial?
I'm disappointed in you Mr. Cinema Snob. I sent you an invitation to visit me at the bottom of the ocean, and you never showed up. I even went though all the trouble in making you an outfit made out of balloon rubber with zippers and chains. If you ever change your mind, contact me whenever you feel like it.
-Sincerely, The Sea King
Can I have my son back?
Honey, what did I tell you about inviting the humans down here? The high pressure will cause that bald man's head to explode! Furthermore, why is there so much trash down here? I told you to clean it! Get off your lazy ass tomorrow and take care of it or you'll be sleeping with the fishes!
~~Yours truly, The Sea Queen~~
Bad news, Sea Queen, But I think he already is.
Maybe the confusion over Ben's costume would've been made more clear if they showed off the mask to emphasize that the Shatner mask wasn't uncommon? What, it worked for Scream! ;D
As for the failed anthology plan for the Halloween franchise, I actually would have preferred it. I just thought that Season of the Witch had a stupid story, moreso than II's sibling twist. But, different strokes, since I know Brad really likes III.
That twist really annoys me and I'm trying to think of all the inconsistencies it brings, such as why didn't Loomis know Laurie was Michael's sister or where was Laurie when Michael killed Judith since he could have killed her then. I think the movie is okay otherwise but the review was great as usual. Too bad it didn't end with a joke on the children, though.
I wonder if Halloween 3 would been a bigger success if they added a few quick interludes of Michael Myers chasing some people with a knife. Maybe the scenes immediately afterwards could start with one of the characters commenting something like "did anyone else hear that," before returning immediately to the real plot.
I really like the VHS pumpkin on the titlecard! Your title card artist does a great job as usual, he should get more praise for his work. Actually I think he is one of the few who manages to depict people as they actually look like
Oh, and great review also.
Fucking A! Brad is back! We were worried the Sea King had taken you to balloon land at the bottom of the ocean.
Ha happened to watch this last night then turned on the tv and Halloween II was on. That was a first.
I still don't know which I prefer, your obscure reviews or your mainstream ones. Balloon land was just crazy... but this one feels like the Snob character is stronger. I don't know which I enjoy more.
Okay I was so looking forward to this one. So hope you do Halloween III next year. Also I cant wait for friday the 13th part 4, best riffs ever!!! Thanks for your hard work, very entertaining!!!
Best joke on this one is the Billy Tramer ones. Fucking hilarious.
This my favorite movie in the original HalloweeN series. People love to bitch about the "sister" twist introduced, but the TV/extended version shown before H2 premiered in theaters clearly explains what happened. It also reinforces why Micheal put the bodies on display for Laurie to find, he wanted to torment his sister before killing her.
Micheal kills side-characters that get in his way or insult him, he doesn't kill everyone like Jason or Leatherface would. (In H5 he does randomly kill because the director/writers were imbeciles.) Though it begs the question why Micheal didn't kill his parents if he wanted his family dead.
So the random neighbor lady he kills with the knife in this movie was insulting him or got in his way? Ok sure. It was a scene that was literally added so there would be a higher body count, and it didn't have anything to do with anything.
Jason kills people like in MOS that's why Brad doesn't like this movie
In the novelisation of Halloween, there's a prologue set in Celtic times that suggests that Michael Myers is part of an ancient line of pagan boogeymen, so actually Halloween III does link up with Halloween universe.
So THAT'S why Dr. Beckett never found his way home! Because he leaped into the body of Ben Tramer! ...Too soon?
Please please review Nightbreed now that the director's cut just became available on DVD. It really should get much more attention.
Michael Myers slashing everyone's tires makes sense.
1. How is he gonna know which cars belong to someone he's already killed and which don't?
2. Though unlikely, one of the nurses could hotwire a car or find the keys.
So will you do halloween 3 next year?Or,seeing how you did it as 80s dan, will you skip to 4?
Or,most likely, youll just troll me and not give a straight answer for the next 365 days.
I'll be skipping to 4, seeing how everything I could say about it I already did in the 80's Dan episode, especially since Dan was playing The Cinema Snob in that episode.
Why not just do a sequel where Cinema Snob tries reviewing it, then 80's Dan comes in and reminds him he already reviewed it, then the two beat the shit out of each other? It would at least answer the question as to who would win in a fight, 80's Dan or Cinema Snob.
In a fight between Brad and 80's Dan...
Hmm.. I'm pretty sure Brad would be confused at first and Dan would start out very aggressive: giving Dan the opportunity to build momentum. Then Brad would call for backup from That Guy With The Glasses... then Travis Crabtree would come in and shoot everyone because he caught Rob screwing his wife and decided to go on a rampage.
But knowing Brad's witty script writing skills, I'm pretty sure he'd come up with something far more creative then that.
Hey, I just found the most amazing movie for you to review. It is called Zombeavers and was released this year, maybe something for next years Halloween. It is easy to find on IMDb
"Contains 52% New Footage"!!!
I do love this movie despite its inconsistencies with the first one (and after two years can you really hold it against them?) It's a shame we'll have to wait another year for a review of Halloween 3
Halloween 2 was surprisingly decent sequel knowing it was obvious cash grab after success of first movie of the (to become) series.
Bit like hellraiser movies, all the sequels after first one have been utter garbage. Not to mention h2o or those rob zombie attempts of directing. yugh
I would love to see ROTOR here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJV3qFsaozE
The best bad movie I've ever seen.
Was the murder by hot water in the hot tub an homage/ripoff of Argento's Deep Red?
The film that answered the question "Did that guy from The Last Starfighter do any other movies?" I love that the Horrorthon from the first movie was still going on on the tv, AND that they had Night Of The Living Dead on (my favorite film of all time). But it annoyed me that they had the wrong music playing guring the "They're coming to Get you Barbara" line. You see NOTLD 100+ times you notice stuff like that.
It's interesting; the first one was TOO slow. Myers stalked for way too long, in multiple scenes, before he finally acted; it went from creepy to "okay dude, we get it, do something!" Then the second one was too fast, killing people quickly, without the scoping out his targets, demonstrating almost magical powers of teleportation or stopping time, with excessively random kills. Although at least the second didn't have that stupid ghost-costume scene. I think it would be awesome to make Halloween 1 over again, but make it slightly faster, have Michael kill a little more, but in his original direct, brutal way, not strapping people down and killing them by exsanguination via hose jammed in the jugular. Instead we got Rob Zombie perfectly capturing everything wrong with the later sequels.
Given how torn he's been over it for years the Snob can now properly put up a memorial to Ben Tramer as Trick or Treats studios is making a mask based on the one he was wearing in Halloween 2.
Some of the older archived videos of 2009 were brought over from the youtube account before thecinemasnob.com was created, so please forgive the lesser video quality of such as some did not transfer well.
