GODDAMMIT, BLIP-oh... ohhhhh.
R.I.P Blip ;-;
I can't believe they referenced a rape joke in ...i want to say kids movie...but i am not sure lol i um and please don't hate me ....i kinda like this movie DX probably the cute cat
I personally think "hate" is an over reaction to someone liking a certain film (as I can attest) but never let the masses dictate what YOU should find entertaining. If your sick sense of humor allows you to laugh at a rape joke then by all means inhale the smilex gas & enjoy! =D
Also with you being a girl it's not quite as troubling as if a guy laughed at a rape joke, then it's be a tad uncomfortable. =/
*it'd be a tad uncomfortable.
oh no i wasn't laughing at the rape joke i meant that the i like the idea of the movie...and that it was messed up that there was a rape joke in a kids or family movie lol
Of course. I apologize for misinterpreting you. Please, don't hate on me now.
Haha ok smilex i won't hate XD
I'm not ashamed to admit that I watched this purely for the hilarious Audrey Plaza. I enjoyed her parts. I gave the film a C. As the movie aired, she spent the whole time ripping it apart on Twitter.
Finally, because she deliberately sounded as bored as possible, and because she makes fun of the movie itself, I would think that it would be hard to review this movie. It's like riffing on a Deadpool cartoon. But, Linkara did a great job with a Deadpool comic recently, and this review/riff is really funny.
After this, it's very likely that the last two will be Winter's Tale and Silent Night Deadly Night 5!
I don't need a cat to riff on his own movie, just a guy and two bots thank you very much!
The one with the android kid? Hell yes! Whoops, I just spoiled an obscure old movie, whelp...
Oh. Well, hell.
Somehow a bad talking cat movie just isn't a bad talking cat movie unless the cat is voiced by Eric Roberts.
A TALKING CAT!?!
Although, Aubrey Plaza playing a pussy? Why am I suddenly hungry?
Because you're turning Chinese.
You really think so?
I fail to see the point of why Grumpy Cat has becoming so popular. To me, it's just a cat that has a grumpy looking face. When I heard that there's gonna be a Christmas movie made about her, I instantly thought of what The Nostalgia Critic said about the first Baby Geniuses movie: "It's basically someone's home movie with a budget."
Also, if I want movies about internet celebrities, I'll stick with the ones that star The Nostalgia Critic, The Angry Video Game Nerd, The Cinema Snob (That's right, Brad ;D), and Linkara, thank you very much.
1:43- In speaking of Garfield, the director of this film, Tim Hill, previously directed Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties.
I'm happy that Grumpy Cat's voiceover doesn't give a crap about being in this movie, 'cause I never gave a crap in SEEING this movie.
13:58- Reminds me of the people who are giving negative comments on the latest Batman v Superman trailer.
20:47- Just thank Christ that Ted Cruz doesn't have his own Christmas special, because he would make President Obama the villain, and the government his lackies.
You SHOULD make a Lloyd Approved t-shirt to sell on this site.
25:40- As a fan of the Transformers movies (Don't judge me), I really feel like that Camero should transform into Cliffjumper and make this movie more entertaining.
27:33- And this has been the origin story of the Crazy Cat Lady from The Simpsons.
Looking forward to your review of Silent Night, Deadly Night 5, and Fat Grandma pestering you through the pages of a book.
A fifth one? Wow....
Dude, remember like two years back when I'd rip on you for doing this timed video commentary shit? I think it was for Linkara videos. Got you kinda pissed off at one point, so I stopped. Probably had a manatee-based username then.
Seems you haven't learned. Your timed commentary is annoying because I WANT to know what you have to say. But the hell if I'm going to replay the video just to sync up your commentary with it so I know what you're talking about.
6th word - I vaguely remember that.
42nd word - Hm, manatee usernames are interesting. Why'd you change it?
51st word - Yeah it's kind of annoying.
86th word - I hear that
I remember him doing that on Doug's videos.
One day, as I was scrolling, I saw just his name appear on Brad's site, and thought: well, shit--here we go with the timed commentary. Scrolled down a bit further and lo and behold, what did I see?
Seems like it takes him twice as long to sit through a video. Who knows--at this point, he might be OCD about it.
Oh you're the guy who kept telling him to "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP GOD WHY YOU SO ANNOYING!" but all Eric just said was, "Nope." Yeah you sure showed him all right. "Pathetic manatee" indeed.
I never mean to harm anyone with my comments with the time codes. I'm just giving my own thoughts on the video and the movie being reviewed. That's it. I'm not asking everyone to read them. Just chill.
It reads like a script; like he's riffing the riff.
The last thing we need in this world is a movie based off of Social Justice Pussy Nostalgia Critic. I'm not defending this movie, God No, but at the same time a movie with the Nostalgia Critic as the main character is like dying of arsenic poisoning.
Yeah, it's about ethics in nostalgic reviewing. #CriticGate
With the pointless definition at the start, of course it tried to be Savages.
OK, I'll admit it.
I kind of wanted to see this movie.
Delightful as always, Brad.
On a completely separate note, you might want to check this out:
And no, I'm not this guy or anyone associated with him or his website, this is not a plug or even a recommendation, I just saw this and thought "Shit, Brad's a huge Halloween fan, this'd probably be right up his street"
I have never wanted a movie to turn fictional-snuff so fast in my life. Lloyd, get on it!
And I just got done watching the MST3K live double-feature for tonight. Pod People and "Warwelf" were dignified compared to forced meme garbage.
The only funny meta joke in this piece of shit movie(I loved the fuck out of this review Brad! Don't worry I'm not insulting this video, just the movie.) was the last pedophilia joke. I love how fucked up and unexpected that joke was, especially for this type of movie. The rest of the meta jokes were just corny "Geeet it?!" jokes that just made me groan.
i had never even heard of grumpy the cat i thought it was some weird shit Brad found like that woman i forget her name who shot a gun on stage. and the other crazy shit he's found for his show. lol.
but than i don't give a shit who the cat is either. only cat that's online that i care about is Lloyd! and this film is my god it looks bad. why was it even made? i have no idea who that chick is who did the voice either. great video Brad i wonder what his next one will be? maybe black christmas? and of course silent night deadly night part 5. one i've been dying to see him do since he did the 1st film.
Which company is worse at movie-making: Lifetime or Hallmark?
Hallmark. Lifetime occasionally try to do something different. Big Driver is actually pretty good. and they sent themselves up with that Will Farrell movie.
I'm sorry Brad. I can't hate any talking cat movie that has a Lifetime-rape joke, no matter how corny it is.
This was filmed in my local mall. I feel...violated.
As a veterinary technician, I'm really not a fan of animalsploitation. Especially when it could possibly promote breeding of dwarfism leading to people who don't know shit about what their poor cat and their poor wallets are going to go through.
Of course you went with the Hagar-era Van Halen. They did the Crystal Pepsi theme. :)
... and because they're better than the Lee Roth-era. Sorry, I know it seems to be an unpopular opinion, but I'll take a pass on SHOOB-EDOOB-DEEBOB!
YES!! Especially for that!
Wow. Grumpy Cat and Lloyd need to work together at some point. Maybe they could team up to battle Cannibal Confederate Zombies or mimes named Mistake.
You're not going to believe this but Grumpy Cat has made a video responding to The Cinema Snob's review!!
Let's see, copy, paste to Google. Result: joke that hasn't been funny since Pierre Kirby week.
Holy fucking hell!! This movie gives me more reasons to despise cats!! Thanks Lifetime! Goddamn this movie and everyone involved in it to a fiery hell death!!!
I spit out my drink laughing at the brows held high jab. As for that stupid cat's voice, I feel like Lena Dunham would have been more fitting for a whiny and entitled first world problem spewing character, though she's always struck me as more of a dog person. ;P
Holly shit, is that your bedroom? Who can sleep with that abomination of a puppet like that in the bathroom?
This review made me feel kinda depressed.
The only Internet cat I care about is Maru, in Japan. Look him up on YouTube. If you feel like it.
Will this season bring us a review of "Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toymaker"?
I have a feeling the audience for this film is mostly comprised of old women who are trying to get their cat to look at the cat on tv...
Bradley, I must say, I am disappointed in you. I was expecting another Christian-themed Christmas movie.
I prefer my Christmas movie reviews to be filled with religious and political humor. I like it when half the audience is alienated.
Instead, you reviewed a secular Christmas movie and did it in a way that everyone can enjoy. Shame on you, sir.
I was disappointed at lack of Fat Grandma, but I guess there's always the possibility of a return with a Silent Night, Deadly Night review.
Okay, I wanna see a sketch with Lewis as Fat Grandma, and Brad as a new character, Skinny Grandpa.
But skinny isn't a "funny" character trait. It'd need to be something like "extremely racist" or something equally easily exploitable.
Brad could play as Adam Sandler, the funny version, alongside Fat Grandma
Well, it's not like being fat has anything to do with what makes Fat Grandma funny.
I have heard that there's a video out of there of Audrey Plaza playing with a very different kind of pussy, her own!
I ain't talking about from a movie pal but the real deal!
Here's the actual video I think you're talking about.
I don't think this will last long on YouTube.
Wow. My expression through this whole damn movie never changed from a jaw-dropping, wide-eyed WTF. I still can't quite parse what I saw.
On one level it looks like they took what they KNEW was an extremely ridiculous concept- spinning off the brand goldmine that is Grumpy Cat into a feature-length movie- and just had complete fun running with it. They tried to knowingly throw in a nod to the hipster demographic with the 'Heh, we know this is awful- we're in on the joke too!' self-referential snark angle. And the cynical, hyper-aware, knowing way they threw the open shilling for GC merchandise (and even spoofed it with fake ridiculous products, movies, etc.) also worked the same concept. They really tried to take advantage of GC's birth in and relevance to Internet culture with the quick cut-away meme-ish humour, the hashtags, etc. In a way it's actually kinda clever, even if it's on the surface ABSOLUTELY a completely dumb, brain-dead movie (which it also acknowledges, to be fair).
But at the same time, I can't help but think that the cynicism on display here is just a little too 'knowing'; while I'm convinced there must have been some creative types involved in making this (who probably had a blast), there also seems to be an underlying 'artificial' aspect to the tone they're trying to convey. It smacks of, "haha, it's okay for us to advertise for products in our movie and convince you to market it for us via hashtags, because WE know it's dumb and we're making fun of it too!" It reminds me a lot of a hipster blog I used to frequent; these stylish young things used to love buying zany, off-kilter second-hand clothes and showing their bodies off in them, but they HAD to accompany each blog post with this uber-ironic, 'this stuff is so bad it's good' commentary- to let readers know that yes, they were reveling in materialism, but it was OKAY because they were doing so ironically; i.e. being satirical. There was an underlying lack of honesty involved in that (you could seriously tell they just loved showing off new clothes- and there's nothing wrong with that- but were too 'hip' to be comfortable admitting it), and I feel the same thing a bit here. I'm basing all of this off Brad's review, mind, but as much brain-dead fun as this movie looks (to me) I get the same vibe as I got from that blog: that it's indulging in a whole lot of cynical marketing, manipulation, and lackadaisical story-telling- and sneakily trying to get away with that by constantly turning to look into the camera and going: "Haha! We're in on it too! *wink*"
Anyway, really great review, brad. What a weird, weird, movie. Still confused by it.
Not really that weird, bro.
Its a Christmas movie about a cat that looks grumpy.
Yeah. I was high off my arse on valium/opiates when watching this lol. Think I might have been overthinking things..
So Brad is gonna do a lot more talking animal movies from now on right?
Alison "Movie Nights" Pregler just did a review of this. She must be aware that you already did it cuz she said dumb and obvious things in it like "how dare other people have opinions different from mine" and "variety is the spice of life". Personally, I thought she was saying those things to get around the fact that someone reviewed this before she did and therefore she was trying to get in on the "make fun of the whole Grumpy Cat thing" bandwagon before it inevitably goes away. And also, she was being pretentious as fuck. I really dont like it when ANY internet reviewer feels the need to be pretentious when they make fun of/riff stupid things. Except for you of course, Snob, because your schtick works so well. There, that's me officially complimenting you. Treasure it, because I only compliment you online reviewer people if you really truly deserve it. And Alison can go jump in a lake with her blatant attempt to ride your coattails and steal your thunder. We dont want any of that around here, do we? HELL NO!
Some of the older archived videos of 2009 were brought over from the youtube account before thecinemasnob.com was created, so please forgive the lesser video quality of such as some did not transfer well.
