Awesome new snob episode
Awesome new way to say "first."
You're so cool. I wish I was like you. Substantive comments are for losers.
I'm aware that the Paramount era Friday films have been cut down badly before, but this one, of the original 8 films from the 80's suffered the most. It's the only film of the series so far where every kill was offscreen, and in many cases it kind of ruins my viewing experience. At least with the other 6 films it wasn't as blatant as this one. Still though I commend it for trying something different in the series, it's not my favorite by any means, but it's still better than the next film.
CORRECTION: The kills weren't offscreen, they cut out before a blade slices somebody. My mistake.
Damn Jones.... another one already?! Slow that workaholic tuchus of yours a mite son..... don't make me have to put my little hoof down and send you to a deserted isle in the Bahamas for some serious vacation! lol
(I know....I'm just being joke-y/silly but I worry sometimes ;)
Poor Carrie, getting blamed for her father's death... that was clearly Jaws tearing down that jetty.
Thanks, that was a really great contribution in the history of internet comments.
Ah, my favorite version of Jason.
This is one of my favorite Friday the 13th movies, because it introduces Kane Hodder as "The Man Behind the Mask."
3:44- Yeah, I've actually been on that ride at Universal Orlando, but I was fortunate enough to NOT die on it.
7:20 & 21:14- I'd be more impressed if you were pitching the script to Black Angus, thank you very much.
8:40- This is also Kane Hodder's favorite Jason kill, which he also did later in Jason X to a couple of holodeck chicks when he's Uber Jason.
9:55 & 18:24- And excellent Batman v Superman reference.
14:36- Because PLOT CONVENIENCE! Almost everyone in a Friday the 13th sequel should know who Jason is before they get killed.
16:01- I can never get tired of this kill scene, because 1. the asshole physiatrist deserves this kind of death for turning the lead's mother into a human shield, and 2. IT'S FUCKIN' AWESOME!
17:52- ...Well, the bitch character is dead.
Yeah, the MPAA were real dicks for cutting down the violence in the Ft13 series since Part VI. At least they've learned their lesson when the 80's came to a close.
Oh, and SyFy is playing this movie as I write this, because they're having they're Friday the 13th marathon today.
Just think, if a Jason movie was made overseas in Italy, Korea, or Indonesia the MPAA would have a heart attack to the gore scenes. Seriously, the sleeping bag death would appear as the Warden vs Riki-oh fight with the meat grinder
My favorite Jason, actor & appearance. Seriously, though it's barely seen, you can't beat the exposed rib cage & spinal cord. So bad ass!
Hey look, It's Terry "Bernie Lomax" Kiser! I thought he was cool in the movies he did in the 80s and 90s. Besides the Bernies, he also did Mannequin 2: On The Move, as well as Tammy & The T-Rex, an early Denise Richards stinkbomb (which Obscurus Lupa reviewed a while back). He also did a lot of TV shows as well. I think he retired in the last decade or so. I like him!
If you can, definitely try to to find 'Friday the 13th Part 7: The Uncut Recut'. A person took the uncut/deleted footage (and no timecode), put it back into the theatrical cut of the film, and then dialed the whole movie down so that the entire movie looks like it was from a VHS tape (in order to have the deleted scenes fit better and more seamless with the rest of the flick). The guy even added trailers for films that came out the same year (like Die Hard, etc.) at the front, like you would see with a VHS tape.
It's Very Cool for any fans of the film. If anyone is interested to give it a look, I would gladly help you out.
i'd very much like to know where to find this
I saved it onto here, for anyone to download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/6843tej2ccc69vm/New+Blood.avi
I know this is sacrilege in some quarters, but I never understood why Kane Hodder is the definitive Jason when he only got the role as the series was fading. To me the best Jason is Ted White in part 4.or maybe even Richard Brooker in part 3.
I'd say it's because he was a massive hulking brute, who moved in a certain fashion, and just had a certain presence and overall body language going for him.
Of course, we all know Timothy Burr Mirkovich was the man who did Jason the most justice.
All I'm saying is that by the time Hodder took over the films weren't as good and Jason had become an indestructible zombie. Where as Ted White, who by the way is taller than Hodder, was Jason in the best movie and Brooker was the first with the hockey mask.
I can see your point.
I like indestructible zombie Jason, I think he's the most fun.
I think my favourite moment in a Friday the 13th film is when a boxer, after exhausting himself trying to beat up Jason, tells him to, "give me your best shot", and Jason proceeds to punch his head straight off.
I also loved Jason X, so maybe my opinions won't hold much ground.
Most people like Jason's appearance in Part 7 rather than the performance as this Jason's eye candy looks battered and beaten by sequelploitation. Hodder also played Jason pissed off during his run as to give him some "emotion" and "character".
I always thought Part 3 was the best of the series myself
I met Kane Hodder a few years ago, damn cool guy. He deserved better than the hand he was dealt. As awesome as he looks in 7 his kills are edited out, while I don't personally have the hatred for part 8 as most have, most of his kills are lame (I mean, come on, he chokes Kelly Hu to death. Choke. Not squeeze her head until it pops like a grape or crush her throat?) but then comes Jason goes to Hell where he's Jason for a whole 20 min at the start & end, & he gets defeated by a dorky jock. . . wtf?! They STILL couldn't do Freddy/Jason so let's ship him to space! Admittedly, the deep freeze kills was cool (sorry) & I can't lie, "Uber Jason" looks neat, other than that it's sh*t. Then New Line finally give us Freddy vs. not Jason, but some giant, homeless looking douche puttering around like Frankenstein wearing Jason's mask. Glad New Line died, but it still sucks.
We get it already, you don't like Ken Krizinger's portrayal as Jason, we aren't as retarded as you may think we're are. Fucking Drop It Already! Also Kane was the most overrated Jason. Ted White was 10x better.
I can't wait for Snob's outburts to Jason's teleportation powers in Part 8 when he chases Kelly Hu through a "technoir" dance floor.
How come no one ever thought of filming or writing a Friday the 13th sequel where Jason went after the MPAA? Wes Craven made a successful Freddy movie in New Nightmare.
Why is Jason holding a giant lollipop?
Because the lollipop wasn't strong enough to carry him. Duh.
Bradley, this was the oddest Christian film yet. But I think I understood the themes of respect for you parents and such.
I can't wait for you to cover Heavenraiser!
Fun fact: Tina's mom is played by Susan Blu in what is apparently her only live action role; she was a prolific voice actor in the 80's, and by "prolific", I mean "I can name at least one 80's cartoon she was actually in".
Ugh, enough of the Kane Hodder worship already. He's the worst Jason actor ever. He's too damn slow and his kills sucked balls. Ted Whote and C.J. Ghrams were actually intimidating, NOT Kane. He'll Richard Brooker was a better Jason, and all he did was lumber around like a stiff piece of wood, but he was 10x better than Kane ever was, and if you don't agree with me then suck a cock. You Kane Fanboys are the cancer to the Friday fan base.
