Woo! I'm excited to see your thoughts on this. For once, I'm going to watch the video before the film because I'm pretty sure that it sticks to the book. If not, I don't mind, it's going to be a while before I can see the film.
I don't know if it was ever said and I don't know where to ask but what ever happened to Jake? Haven't seen him on the site in like six months.
He did some bullshit which involved cheating on his girlfriend. It was generally unpleasant and got him thoroughly excised from the group.
I already didn't like Jake for not liking Regular Show and now...... my opinion barely changed on Jake, and still like Violet way more :p
What happened was way worse than that. It's not hard to find out if you truly want to look, but I wouldn't recommend it. Let's just say there's a reason that p.o.s. lost all of his friends.
Just look it up, and what I got is if they can't get Tom Cruise, Jake would be amazing as Handsome Jack for a Borderlands 2 movie
Only Handsome Jack may probably be a nicer person than Jake
A shame, as I was beginning to love that glorious mane of hair he was growing. ='(
He went insane basically. Got mad at Brad, Jillian, and Dave for dating Sarah his ex-girlfriend. They basically put up with his frick fracking then he went to far royally screwed over Brad and became the biggest dick in Springfield IL. They cast him out of their lives and ignore him. Basically he went full blown Biff Tannen mixed with Tigerblood Charlie Sheen.
First of all, congrats to Irving! Must've been a fun reception!
Enjoyed The Martian and I think it'll go up against Everest in terms of Oscar nominations mainly for its cinematography and visual effects. Next award-worthy movie I want to see is Bridge of Spies. Spielberg and Hanks together again should be great!
I demand a printout copy of those photo booth pictures.
How many offensive comments did Irving make before and after the ceremony and how many of those were with the wig on his head?
Eh I would like Phelan and Allison to review it
This is the movie Christopher Nolan failed to do Interstellar, an engaging sci fi adventure that didn't need boring speeches, that didn't emotionally engage me at all with dull confusing technobabble
Though I wonder Matt Damon did not bring his own music, I would chuck out that Disco crap, and play nothing but Megadeth for a while.
This may be the best Mars movie since Total Recall
"This is the movie Christopher Nolan failed to do Interstellar, an engaging sci fi adventure that didn't need boring speeches, that didn't emotionally engage me at all with dull confusing technobabble"
... and didn't include the 'Love conquers all" bullcrap.
for what tried to be a "Smart" movie, interstellar was badly written from a character perspective. the motivations were "Fuck you."
I went and saw the walk and it's such a good movie. The 3d was excellent and the best I've seen in a long time. The wire walking between the two towers my palms were sweating and I was nervous. The story was quite interesting as I didn't look any of this up before seeing it. I highly recommend it when you get the chance
Glad to see you guys liked this movie. Seeing this for sure. Will see Sicario for sure. No worries about the Midnight Screenings possibly being delayed here and there this month. Do hope for one for Sicario and Crimson Peak though.
Can I just call you "Goodbye" for short?
omg that name
My buddies and I just went to see Sicario. It's awsome! Go see it brad!! Dark as shit
Is Brian Moving? Because if he isn't WTF? '
Is this a reference to someone else and you used a close friend who won't get mad to express this? Very odd and it doesn't seem Brian is the actual target, But I guess maybe he is that dick???
So, I looked up the chili and... Good... God! What the heck?! Now, I love me some good chili. I MAKE some good chili, and a big part of it is to not have it be a big pool of greasy water with gray meat floating in it! How am I supposed to fertilize my Martian crops with this coming out of me?!
Anyway, I've seen this movie *twice* now with plans to see it again with my parents this weekend. For me the 3D worked and really added to the experience of seeing Mars. Fun movie, and loved the "problem"-solving aspects of it a'la Apollo 13. Science, with some exceptions, in it was solid and sound and Damon who largely is alone in the movie does a good job; but overall the cast is great.
And no real "villain" from the trailers I thought Daniel's character was going to be the stock 'corporate asshole"-type character more concerned about saving money, time, or whatever rather than doing as much as possible to save a life. Instead he's pretty much the opposite pushing his people to the limits to get Damon home. (And he can't be too blamed for not going with the sling-shot maneuver on a risk/reward level.)
I personally gave the movie an A+ and at this point consider it the best movie -for me- of the year.
I miss Jake...just wanted to throw that out there
How can you miss that snake in the grass and all around worthless piece of shit, I've also heard he screwed 17 year holds so I'd like him to take a seat
You never met him. Just wanted to throw that out there.
Agreed, I don't know Jake or Brad personally but neither deserves to be flamed on this site. Unless any of the people talking trash are either Brad himself or members of Team Snob You do not know what happened. So can we just move on already? Did any of you think maybe it was a hard decision for Brad to push away a long time friend? (Even though he did something wrong)
Fuck that guy.
If you miss watching that fucking asshole so much, watch old videos on this site on which he's featured. The only times he was any funny or good were when he was saying lines Brad wrote and when he described a white trash couple fucking in a movie theater showing "Mr. Popper's Penguins".
I don't understand is Mat Damon The Martian? Coz I saw it and I was expecting an ET and it was just Matt Damon eating potatoes. People should be warned that there is no Martian in this film.
Well he did, by definition, "colonize" Mars and lived there for the better part of 2 years which makes him an inhabitant of Mars and, this, a "Martian."
That doesn't make any sense. The only possible explanation is that some of the potatoes were Martian and he became a pod Matt Damon. Coz to me a Martian is an ET of some sort not Matt Damon.
And anyway he didn't colonize the planet because there's only one of him and you can't have a colony of one,
I'm waiting for the sequel where he blows up the Earth because it was blocking his view of Venus.
I can't trust their opinions on space movies because they enjoyed Prometheus. I therefore have to conclude that Gravity, Interstellar and The Martion, movies they also liked, are also terrible. Especially if its made by Ridley Scott, because no good director has an occasional misfire.
(Since you can't get inflection from words on a screen let me iterate I got the joke and I'm going to roll with it.)
Augh... I know right, and that Alien movie, not iconic in the lease. I bet Sigourney Weaver's really regretting that one now.
That movie you were thinking of is "Robinson Crusoe On Mars" - which is even in The Criterion Collection. :-)
Thank you for knowing that! I knew what Brad was talking about but couldn't remember the name of the movie. I want to see it now.
Yup!....That's the one! Thanks from those of us much too damn lazy to type it out (basically me ;))
I only knew of the movie because my Mother loved it as a kid and bade me hunt hither and yon across the wilds of the internet to buy it for her, lol. Criterion Collection, huh? ....nice.
Beat me by a country mile!
I've seen that one! Adam West was in it!
Whenever Dave appears in a video, I have a tendency to show his name like they would for Norm from Cheers. Also I'm glad to know that Brad has the survival skills of a house cat. XD I think he'd fare better more in an I Am Legend scenario, holed up in his house with Lloyd and Chloe watching movies...not much different than now, just with bio vampire creatures running amok.
You should know the first lines of the book is "I'm pretty much fucked. That is my considered opinion. Fucked." They had to clean up a lot of language for the movie to not get a hard R.
The only thing changed for the movie that really annoyed me is the Iron Man thing. In the book he did suggest that, Lewis told him no, he reminded her how cool it would be but they all agreed how stupid an idea it was and would not work. The only reason it bugs me is that it was in the book as a "This sounds awesome but would fail so hard" idea.
Hope you get to see Sicario soon, I predict you'll really like it. Also, I looked up that chili... WTF
So where's Dave moving to? And how often will he be in these videos?
He's only moving across town, like a couple miles from where he is now.
Add in a couple lovely voluptuous women (if my lovely wife isn't there) with the disco and potatoes and I would call that heaven. I'm with Brad on this one.
That thumbnail, and no DTF comments yet?
I guess the running joke is dead already.
This movie was indeed awesome. The few changes they made from the book didn't bother me, and in fact, I'll bet the stuff they left out will show up in the extended DVD cut soon enough (like the sandstorm Watney deals with on his way to the MAV site). As mentioned above, the Iron Man change was a little stupid, but I can look past it.
At this rate, The Martian is probably one of the best films of the year, along with It Follows and Black Mass.
Where the hell is the Sicario review? It's a movie made for Brad...
I was surprised how excellent this movie was. Simple in a way, but exquisitely put together.
ROFL! Thanks a lot for making THAT the still-shot.... I kept trying to pause the vid to see it clearly, but was having no luck at all.
....'Course now that means you owe me new unner-wears dammit! And not those Tommy Wiseau ones either!
Oh....And, lest I forget.....
(now behave yourself - you're a very lucky man; you'll need someone to keep you outta trouble! :D)
So are you guys not reviewing Hotel Transylvania 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ii_nlV7n1zY
Brad I believe you're remembering "Robinson Crusoe On Mars" which is available in a Criterion Collection Blu-Ray edition.
FWIW I care about Dave's moving schedule.
You cared enough to comment.
WHY did I search for an image of that chili? Just the sight turns my stomach, god knows what the smell would do, let alone the taste.
The Martian sounds like what I've been waiting for, a genuine science fiction movie. You guys liked it, Astronomy magazine liked it - I'm sold.
Congrats Irving! All the best to you!
Im a big fan, I used to only think the nostalgia Critic existed, but then came you, and then i lost my Z movie virginity. It felt like someone put a cherry bomb in my ass and forced me to watch Troma films after.
That is a bad analogy
I live in NY and near the city at that. Is it possible to come see my Internet savior when you said you were coming. Please let a fan know.
Thank you sir
"Ridley Scott's Doom"
hell, I'd pay money to see that.
