Helloooo, I'm the Comment Critic. I post first so you don't have to.
Your comment was far too short, and I feel that that led to your characters being underdeveloped. Also, the last character introduced brought the comment to a complete halt.
Then look below to read my real comment I left.
Hey, buddy! Come here for a second.
Helen cho is the mother of the prodigy amadeus cho
I really felt like Bettany was doing a bit of Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner in his version of Vision. That conversation at the end with Ultron really reminded me of the final conversation in that movie.
By far my favorite part was the character interactions. I won't say everyone had equal time or anything but this movie juggled so many huge personas so well. And Spader was the bestest robot ever!
DAMN, AN HOUR LONG!!! That means either the film sucked, or you guys like it so much that you can't help but get into different tangents! I'm just going to watch the movie first and then this video just to find out!
In case it was not mentioned in the video (I hope), Marvel's Daredevil is a really good show! Really looking forward to both season 2 and the rest of the Defenders like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage!
More than half of it is just talking about trailers and off tangents.
I can tell you one thing that James Spader deserves an Oscar nomination for his Ultron role! I know the Academy don't nominate voice-over performances, but I don't care about their bullshit rules! It SHOULD happen!!!
Oh god FF looks so bad. Looks half like a bad sci-fi movie you see on sci-fi channel. The other half is bad ff movie.
I don't know if they got the new Terminator trailer but seemed like you didn't. Looks good by good the twist spoiled in it. This is way we hate these kinda trailers. It SPOILS TO MUCH OF THE MOVIE. But it interesting to see the movies take a tern that was in recent comic book.
Superman/Batman just feels wrong. DC trying to rush a Justice League movie without it being one. Aquaman and Wonder Woman look awful.
I loved Age Of Ultron. Great movie. I wouldn't say as good as first but right up there.
Video an hour long and talked about trailers and other stuff as more then the movie. :)
Aw, no sign of Jocasta? Dang it. Well I really hope they use her in the future.... I've always liked her design.
Jocasta sucks. Good riddance.
Fuck off, Spoofer.... go troll hump someone else's leg.
cry moar plz
Awww, you mad bro? Sad that humping my cyber-leg the closest you've been to a woman?
no i just think you're a petty asshole that deserves to have their feathers ruffled in the most begnign way
OH NOES!!1! Some insignificant loser on the internet doesn't like me! Whatever shall I do? Wherever shall I go? [swoons]
But in all seriousness.....
Just as long as it's put forward that someone's 'trying' to speak under my persona - which as now you've so eloquently done - I don't give a flying fig. You get the same copy-pasta line of insults any other troll would get.
So consider my feathers un-mussed.....
There's an Easter egg reference just before the final battle, apparently.
Hey thanks .... Now I'll definitely keep an eye peeled :)
Just came back from seeing the movie; really glad you mentioned it because DAMN, it went by so quick if I would've blinked I'd have missed it. ;)
[listed on Stark's display when he's talking to Friday]
Btw.... loved they gave Friday an accent.
Sarah was right about Helen Cho's relationship to Amadeus. She's Amadeus Cho's mother. They really just used her name.
We actually got the Batman vs. Superman trailer when we saw Avengers.
i did too.
it was weird. the theater was creepily quiet during that trailer. it was really awkward.
and then the star wars trailer showed up. and everyone started cheering.
sandwiched between 3 really good disney trailers, they shoved man of steel 2: batman's an idiot.
it was Ant Man, and Tomorrowland, which looks SO MUCH better then batman v superman. just goes to show that disney hasn't forgotten how to make a movie fun.
warner brothers needs to learn that lesson.
Funny, in my theater they showed Dawn of Justice AFTER Star Wars. People were quiet for Dawn of Justice, but they were also quiet for EVERY trailer after the Star Wars one earned thunderous applause (I guess the cheering tuckered them out.)
it probably would of done best before all the trailers, not right before the playing of avengers 2.
it is not a good idea to show your stupid movie trailers in front of a really good movie.
but idk. maybe warner brothers thought avengers 2 was going to be really stupid.
The same thing happened in my theater: dead silence from the batman v superman trailer was, then the next trailer popped up with the Lucas Arts logo and the panning shot of Tatooine with the John Williams score causing everyone in the theater to collectively lose their shit
Hey Brad curious, are any of you Whedon fans from the days of Buffy/Angel?
1. I so want to see a Refrigerator Face Ultron movie now--hell hey made Death Bed--The Bed that Eats People so why not Refrigerator Face conquer the world. And doing a Line of Cocaine to boot.
2. Personally, I think the Brady Bunchification of the Fantastic Four could be an interesting take. Though I agree they have overdone Dr. Doom , what about Diablo and Moleman?
3. And I agree, Star Wars movies are best when they look a little gritty and grungy
I'm going to be THAT guy: The movie is called "Death Bed: The Bed That Eats". No "people" in the title.
I like Patton Oswalt's stand-up as much as anybody, but he gets stuff wrong all the time and isn't known for doing any real research on a lot of the more complex topics he talks about. He knows a lot of details about certain pop culture topics - the ones he's interested in himself - but that's about it.
Yay antman! I think he is too underated. like ants themselves. I never step on ants I think they get hated on to much. Ant man is so underated as a hero, really, I think this should be a good year for marvel movie's and a bad one for DC.
im gonna be a straight shooter, i have ZERO plans to watch another MCU film.
for me, they're really predictable and draining because they dont seem to have a variation in terms fo direction and tone. They're all action comedies with fairly predictable jokes.
Once you've seen phase 1, you've seen most if not all of them.
They really lack an edge to them or something to push them over the edge from just a big budget franchise to a series of movies used to help advance and push the art form.
I see them as nothing more than pop corn movies.
Daredevil tv series the exception. That show is fucking brilliant.
So im gonna skip this movie and camp out for Mad Max Fury Road.
Have you seen the second Captain America movie? It's basically "what if we made a political action thriller in a superhero universe".
Yes, and its BETTER, and i wouldnt mind as much if the rest of the MCU was like it, but its one movie out of soon to be 100.
And even then there are parts that were eye rolling and made the film feel more bloated than it needed to be.
I totally agree; it felt like 24 the whole time. It was great.
Watch Daredevil. It's MCU's dark crime drama.
Someone should go see Ex Machina. Great movie.
They've mentioned an interest in it previously, but I have a feeling that never made it to Jebus-town/Springfield.
I'd be interested what Brad thinks of it. I loved it. Reminded me of a much better done "Black Rainbow".
You guys were talking about what the angry comments are going to be, I'm going to go with faceless Dave during the latter half of the review. Stay in frame, Dave, how unprofessional. /sarcasm
I am not a fan of superhero movies for some reason. This film and the first just seemed lacking in same way for me. All the action aside the characters and everything just kind of suck for me. But Guardians of the galaxy on the other hand was just amazing, loved it, can't wait for number 2, until then could not really give a shit about the MCU.
i thought GOTG was the most obnoxious and irritating one, honestly.
i actually liked man of steel, so i have high hopes for Bats vs Supes....not so much for suicide squad.
Ugh. You LIKE MoS? Have you no shame, sir? How dare you! That was NOT a Superman film. It had no charm like the Donner films where he forces the world to reverse, probably causing worldwide destruction not just Metropolis, all to save one Lois Lane, then goes to bed with her before tricking Zod's gang into losing their powers, rendering them helpless, then breaking Zod's hand & dropping him into the icy pit to his death with no remorse whatsoever before Lois slugs Ursa giving her the same fate, afterward they yuck it up before he delivers a mind erase kiss nullifying the whole experience. Or how about 3, here instead of a real villain we have a Luthor wannabe with 2 hench wenches, one of which turns into a robot that looks eerily similar to the new Dr. Doom, & of course. . . Richard Pryor? 4 he "fights" a character not from the comics & the less said the better, & finally we had the awesome & not disappointing at all Superman Returns directed by Bryan Singer. What's Superman do? He stalks Lois, acts emo, & faces off with Luthor (again?) then lifting a mountain of kryptonite. . . GENIUS!
Sorry, lost it there for a second. Yes! Batman v. Superman I'm hopeful for, though to be honest I just want Ben to give Batman his dignity back after Nolan made him a joke (I can't blame Bale, someone must've told him to do that). Speaking of jokes, I'm only going to Suicide Squad to see (finally!) another interpretation of the Joker that's closer to the comics, minus the tats of course.
I have little doubt they'll be good, sorry for the rant, Mr. J!
I mean BAD, I have little doubt they'll be BAD. Ugh, forgive me. I was watching MoS agan, hence my intelligence must be lowering. Right, Brad & Dave? Ha ha ha derrrrrrrrf!
......i have NO idea what the tone of this is supposed to be.
I like MOS because superman is a character and not a caricature, he isnt a god, he actually fights, the actual film craft is far superior than the marvel movies (lighting, editing, cinematography, ect) and actually treated its audience with a bit of intelligence.
All the hate i see for the movie, i understand very little of it.
And yes, superman has killed PLENTY in the past, he doesnt have a no-kill code.
My tone was simply immature sarcasm followed by reasons why I also enjoyed MoS, sorry for any confusion :)
@SmilexHex: Yes, because the old superman movies being crappy AUTOMATICALLY makes Man of Steel a good movie. I swear, butt hurt MoS fans come up with the silliest arguments.
@jegsimmons: "All the hate i see for the movie, i understand very little of it." <--- You don't understand one-dimensional characters and wooden acting? Excessively washed out color palate (because you see, it's a SERIOUS movie) and shaky cam? Lack of understanding of the concepts of pacing and tone? The gratuitous destruction porn? The fact that it pushes the message "It's okay to destroy and kill, as long as it's for a good cause", the absolute anti-thesis of everything Superman stands for (I don't care what previous movies did, we're talking about THIS movie)? I'm sorry to tell you this, but these things are there; the only difference is how much you're bothered by them, and it would seem you just have a high tolerance for crap.
"You don't understand one-dimensional characters and wooden acting?"
if those were present...
" Excessively washed out color palate (because you see, it's a SERIOUS movie) and shaky cam?"
you dont know what "washed out" is..do you.
What you be is contrast along with color highlighting.
" Lack of understanding of the concepts of pacing and tone? "
My favorite movie is The Good The Bad and The Ugly. So i know pacing and tone, and MOS was fine in these regards.
"The gratuitous destruction porn?"
No worse than any other movie.
"The fact that it pushes the message "It's okay to destroy and kill, as long as it's for a good cause",
That wasnt the message. The message was faith and consequences.
" the absolute anti-thesis of everything Superman stands for (I don't care what previous movies did, we're talking about THIS movie)?"
Like what? Superman has killed before, plenty of times.
He was inexperienced and new to being a hero so he has room to learn but his core values are present.
Also why CANT they change it up some? The vast majority of material with superman is incredibly dull and badly written. I think they did an excellent job with Supes.
" I'm sorry to tell you this, but these things are there; the only difference is how much you're bothered by them,"
or how much you seem to misread them.
"and it would seem you just have a high tolerance for crap."
not really. My tolerance for crap ended at Iron man 3.
You can bitch and moan about MOS all you want with misread messages and conclusion jumping because you like everyone else are spoiled by Marvels action comedy quirky quip writing, but for me, the film actually did a lot fo good things.
Made supes a character and not a cut out
Had a point to the decisions of all the characters
Had quiet bits to let us enjoy the atmosphere
Made Lois Lane a good character with relevance (and also went ahead and made her know Supes identity saving us from QUIRKY MISUNDERSTANDINGS!!
Had a villain who was actually threatening and wasnt beaten by a god damn dance off or fucking joke move.
Didnt cram in stupid gags every minute
Treated us like adults with a serious yet optimistic tone
Was a MASTERPIECE in the craft and production value, and im not talking CGI, just simple shots and the cinematography alone made this film worth a watch. Snyder can work a camera.
And best of all, it was different. It was batman dark neo noire, and it was MCU style whedon-esque action comedy bullshit.
It was a breath of fresh air.
Not "butt hurt", it's called having a difference of opinion from those who THINK they're right. But thanks for your input.
It's not your opinion on MoS that makes you butt hurt. By all means, like whatever you want, it's everyone's right to do so. No, it's your need to preface your opinion with sarcastic comments about OTHER Superman movies (because CLEARLY anyone who hates MoS is just a dumb fan of those movies) that makes you sound butt hurt.

@jegsimmons: Oh ho ho, long comment incoming:
First off, from your previous comment –
“he isnt a god”
You say this while talking about a movie that uses Jesus imagery for Superman. TWICE, just so they could be sure that we got it.
Now, about your current comment –
“if those were present...”
Here’s an excerpt from a Man of Steel abridged script, when Superman finds the Spaceship under the ice:
“WONDER and AWE fill HENRY's face! He struggles to hold back TEARS as he stands on the cusp of a NEW UNDERSTANDING of the universe and his own existence!
DIRECTOR ZACH SNYDER: CUT! Now let's try it again, only this time act like you just got socks for Christmas.
HENRY gives it another go, regarding the spaceship with all the POLITELY FEIGNED INTEREST of a BACHELOR UNCLE AT A FOURTH GRADER'S PIANO RECITAL, even when confronted with a LIVE EXTRATERRESTRIAL BEING.”
He put it better than I could. Everyone in this movie acts lifelessly, despite being good actors (well…most of them anyway), probably because Zach Snyder was too busy framing shots beautifully to actually give their actors any directions.
“you dont know what "washed out" is..do you.
What you be is contrast along with color highlighting.”
I mean adding grey tint to the movie (because you see, it’s a DARK movie) that is so dull it makes Superman’s costume look black (I’m sure people will be very inspired when they see him flying in that costume). If you have a word for it, I mean that.
“My favorite movie is The Good The Bad and The Ugly. So i know pacing and tone, and MOS was fine in these regards.”
Ok, so Superman, after destroying the terraforming machine over the Indian Ocean, he comes back to Metropolis, unable to save a big chunk of the city, and presumably the people in it. He further had to kill the last of the Kryptonian embryos to save what remained of Metropolis, and good military people gave their lives to stop Zod. Zach Snyder directly follows this up with Superman making out with Lois Lane and joking about relationships, while surrounded by parts of Metropolis that have been turned to dust (It is horrifying to see how little people care about dead people in this movie). If you think the last sentence is tonally consistent with the rest of the paragraph, then you don’t understand what tone is.
“No worse than any other movie.”
Is that an argument now? “I know other movies that do it, so Superman can do it too.”
“That wasnt the message. The message was faith and consequences.”
Oh, no no, you’re confused, but it’s understandable. You see, the movie TELLS us (repeatedly, because they’re sure we’d forget if we didn’t hear it enough) that it is about faith, consequences and hope while in practice, it is anything but. What were the consequences of Superman being unable to save the people in Metropolis, the destruction there and in Smallville, and killing off the last people of his kind? Jack Shit. He’s flying around in the very next scene and even joins the Daily Planet, without a care in the world. Apparently, a totally sociopathic Superman is what people want.
“Like what? Superman has killed before, plenty of times.”
You…do realize that there are even comic book writers who don’t understand the character of Superman, and their stories end up devolving into PUNCH KILL ANGST? Of course, then the argument comes up about how one decides what Superman’s character is if different comics portray it differently, to which I don’t have an answer. His character has been built up over the years, some parts were added, some were removed, until we arrived at a personality that most people can agree on best defines him. Those who disagree and write their own interpretations of Superman are free to do so, but we are also free to reject them if we don’t like the story.
“Also why CANT they change it up some?”
You’re right. Next, let’s have Batman hate Rock n’ Roll, physically abuse orphaned 12 year-olds and call them retards, have him set criminals on fire and then have sex right next to their burning bodies. Or am I only allowed to do it for characters you don’t like?
“The vast majority of material with superman is incredibly dull and badly written.”
You could, you know, actually adapt some of the good material instead of this overplotted garbage that’s being dark for the sake of dark?
“I think they did an excellent job with Supes.”
Duly noted. Badly misguided, but noted.
“or how much you seem to misread them.”
I can say the same for you, and in fact I actually did. Now, BOTH of us are acting like bitches.
“You can bitch and moan about MOS all you want with misread messages and conclusion jumping because you like everyone else are spoiled by Marvels action
I also wasn't a big fan of GOTG. It was waaaaay to predictable.
Your entitled to your opinion but how could you like man of steel it SUCKED Overall the movie was so bland, grey and dissapointing as FUCK. the main problem with this movie is that Nolan and schneider try to make Superman a dark character which he's not making him dull and boring, Theres no zaininess to the character, the flashbacks are all over the place, the character doesn't learn anything because he's the same person he is at the beginning that he is at the very end, you'd get more character and depth from the original Christopher Reeves films, the Superman Animated series and the Adventures of Lois and Clarke tv show then this movie. Everything in Man of steel is really monotoned and grey. None of the characters in the movie have any other dimension to them and none of them have any chemistry with each other. Superman is built up to be the savior "space jesus"( quite literally with the christian symbolism with him flying on a cross etc) that he's not. It was also described to me like getting a really shitty blow job and feeling this could've been so much better if there was allot more effort put into it and if Director zack schneider and david s goyer embraced the zaininess of Superman just like Marvel has embraced the zaininess of their movies with the Avengers making them look bright and heroic. They try to do what Nolan did with Batman and try to grind superman down to reality like they did with batman and it doesn't work Superman is a zainy character that flies FUCKIN GO WITH IT. I'm not gonna see any of the DC justice league movies seen as their gonna adopt the same "NO JOKES" no zaininess to ANY of their characters.I'm curious to see Ben Affleck as Batman, the costume looks awesome and I wanna see an older Batman but thats it other then that the teaser trailer gave me nothing to be excited about and i'm not gonna support movies that are gonna be bland grey monotones joyless and less hopeful. I'm also sick of people saying the dark knight was awesome cause it was serious NOO it was awesome cause 1) they had great actors with onscreen chemistry 2) characters talked to each other and you could feel for those characters 3) Heathe Ledger gave us a great performance as the joker so much so that he was a REAL threat in the film owe and Jessie fucking Eisenberg as Lex Luther PLEASE is a joke of a casting there are so much better actors out there then him and Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman and Ezri Miller as The Flash what a joke of a casting. Its amazing Watchmen a much Darker movie based on a dark graphic novel ended up being more funnier then man of steel and the Watchmen movie sucked to. Also Superman SHOULD NOT kill DC heros shouldnt kill in general, It was described to me as DC heros are the ones we aspire to be and Marvel heroes are the ones we end up becoming thats why its ok for Marvel heroes to kill and NOT for DC
Dude, did you type that whole thing while sobbing? Calm the fuck down. You don't need to explode with rage just because somebody dares to like a movie you don't.
GOTG was awesome it felt like a star wars movie. the film was essentially Space Avengers and it worked Groot and Rocket racoon were hilarious and they all worked well as a team to take down the Executioner. The Executioner though was outshined by Thanos. Also on Man of Steel KEVIN COSNER WORST JOHNATHAN KENT EVERRR, he was like clarke stand proud infront of the human race help people then hes like no dont do it clarke don't help people MAKE UP YOUR GODDAMN MIND cause you can do both and then he says no son dont save me let me get whisked away by the hurricane.
It was a tornado not a hurricane, but whatever :P
Here's the silliest thing about this: I'm not even a big fan of Superman. The 2 Donner films are still great, my gripes aside & Reeve (in my opinion) will NEVER be topped. The other 3 should've been better than they were but it what it is. So on my anger fueled drive home from Iron Man 3 all I demanded from MoS was to be different from the previous installments & have at least 1 action packed fight scene. . . I guess I got it.
Watching it now it is overkill with the destruction, but I suppose seeing the 1st action packed Superman film I just wanted to enjoy the ride. . . uh, sue me?
I was impressed with the Avengers' attempt to minimize casualties, but to think not one person died in the Hulkbuster fight or at the end is laughable. Also, the Vision killed Ultron when he was weak & defenseless. But all in all I enjoyed it a lot, can't wait for Thanos to get off his ass & finally kick ass!
Dawn Of Justice looks promising enough, despite the terrible name. They got a guy who played Daredevil to play Batman, the story looks like yet another 'gritty hero doing gritty stuff to stop the non-gritty heroes' that make the fanboys jizz every time, and it seems like they're actually trying on this one unlike a certain other movie.
I wanted to see this video until I heard a comment about something that I need to ask you guys on: please don't tell me that they go into a MOS hate in this thing; is it because BvS was attached to AOU? I'm getting so annoyed over it that when I see their faces, I want to murder every one of them (except Sarah <3). So tell me
I think you need to calm the fuck down.
They mention it once... and given how violently whiny you already are, you'd probably consider that "hating".
Hey, Brad. I tried to add Big Wednesday to your favorite movies on the imdb page, but I don't think I know imdb that well. Could you go on and look at it and edit it a bit?
I'm honestly really looking forward to Dawn of Justice. Fake Josh Hadley and I are going to see it opening night. Stop being such a pessimist little Dave.
Least its doesn't have any black folk in it like Fantastic Four.
Racist Hipster Dave! That's terrible!
I just utterly adore Sarah.

Rebecca Hall's dad is black. I went to college with a blonde girl who had a white dad. It happens sometimes. Tricky cove genetics.
A black dad. Most blonde girls have a white dad. Her older brother looked more obviously mixed race.
Avengers 2 was the greatest movie ever made
well somebody hasn't seen Once Upon A time.
"there was a mr. bottle who lived happily in this little town. he was a widower. with him, lived his only child, maria. whom, he adored. and also bello, maria's little dog. mr. bottle loved them both. but he loved Brandy even more." *goes behind sheets holding a cup of brandy. opening credits.
animated. for kids.
Wow, Joss Whedon! It's such an honor to meet you, I didn't know you followed the cinema snob.
I have a question for you: Why did Black Widow go from being a badass in Captain America 2 to being a 1940s movie character fawning over Bruce Banner and getting kidnapped and needing rescue on Avengers 2?
I appreciate that Brian and Dave are rational about comparing the MCU to the comics. MCU is it's own continuity, so there are a lot of for better or worse changes that may or may not have happened in the comics. Some people can't get over that and get neurotic about those changes. I don't agree with everything, I'm curious as to why there's been no mention of Betty Ross in these movies since The Incredible Hulk, but at the end of the day the characters just work so well.
Mad Max comes out in two weeks already? It looks absolutely bonkers and I'm so excited to see it.
I'm not a huge comics guy, but a quick Wikipedia search revealed that Helen Cho was Amadeus Cho's mother.
My wife and I saw AoU last night (after the other 10 in the marathon) and even though we were tired it was a great film, lots of action and comedy. Great to see some good character development.
Jebus Christ, how many fucking trailers do you guys get over there?
That's usually my reaction too. .At our theater it's always *3*..... no more nor less. The thought of getting even 5+ plus would be awesome!
you assholes said nothing about the actual movie idiots
I'm guessing because the film itself is pretty forgettable. I'm a huge MCU fan, and was seriously overhyped for this movie. It was a colossal disappointment. Nothing was really explained. Things just sort of happened, or appeared, with no real buildup or explanation or anything like that. You're not given a reason to care about anyone or anything that happens.
And the Banner/Romanoff "romance" was one of the most pointless and awkward things I've ever seen in a film. It's arguable to even call it a romance.
I think there's a good film in there somewhere, and that it was just murdered by editing.
yeah and because theyre owned by some promotion company (fucking sellouts) they cant talk bad about it so they just waste an hour of our life with bullshit
fuck these sick assholes and fuck this site im done
These are a very silly couple of posts. So, I'll address these issues consecutively:
1. They didn't say anything about the movie 'cause it was good.
2. One of you didn't even watch the review and just wanted an excuse to rant.
3. The mouse is poking her head out again she's sniffing call the police D:
4. Brad and his gang are actually owned by Walmart, not the film industry. I read it in the internet tabloids. Hey, did you know that Zoe Quinn is actually a genderless lizardperson?
Not sure which "asshole" you're referring to, dick, but in case it was me...yes, I did watch the entire hour-long video. I wanted to know what Bruce Wednesday was, damnit! And was wondering where Dave was going with his dissatisfaction of the casting for Sue and Johnny Storm. I knew it wasn't some kind of racist tangent that I've heard from comic fans before...but I was worried that he was wording it a little oddly and that some people may have taken it as such.
Not saying anything about the movie because it was good makes absolutely no fucking sense whatsoever. I realize the gang goes off on random tangents whenever they see a good movie, and I often love those videos. It's why I love this one despite my disappointment with Age Of Ultron.
And I'm sorry, but this was NOT a good film. At all. It really pains me to say that because I love the MCU and I'm still hyped about Infinity War. I'd go so far to say that this is the weakest thing Marvel has put out so far. And yes, that includes Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, and Thor: The Dark World.
Maybe it's a grower for me, as Iron Man 2 was. I HATED Iron Man 2 when I first saw it, but now it's one of the more enjoyable entries for me.
And I don't really care who is allegedly owned by what. The only "very silly" post in the string of "very still posts" you mentioned is by sigh and the claim of "fucking sellouts." Though I'd argue that post is more nonsensical than silly.
Oh, wow, I just realized you were replying to me and not the cuckoo troll. Okay, then.
The reason I implied you didn't watch it all the way? Because you were indicating Team Snob found the movie forgettable. In truth, they didn't talk about it much because they loved it, which they themselves state. You were putting words into their mouth.
" Not saying anything about the movie because it was good makes absolutely no fucking sense whatsoever. I realize the gang goes off on random tangents whenever they see a good movie, and I often love those videos. It's why I love this one despite my disappointment with Age Of Ultron. And I'm sorry, but this was NOT a good film."
Your personal view of the film has no bearing on this conversation. I didn't see it; you're entitled to your opinion. My point was that you were acting like Team Snob agreed with you. They clearly adored the movie. Their reason for being mum about it was clearly not because they found it forgettable.
That's why I accused you of posting on a fairly unrelated comment line just to state your opinion. The fact is that you're disagreeing with Snob, so why try to tie in your complaints about the film with a totally unconnected complaint about Team Snob's reviewing style?
For the uninitiated norms, this fun popcorn flick would likely rate an 8 out of 10. For anyone wanting the MCU to be consistent and had hopes for a proper crossover between the long standing franchises, this would rate a 5, maybe more if one is generous. They rob us of the Xmen established Quicksilver, thus making sure Magneto gets NO reference in the film. Then they make both him and his sister "enhanced", i.e. yet more fucking science projects gone rogue(lol). Whedon certainly would fill the boots of Bolivar Trask rather well, minus the acting ability of Peter Dinklage, considering his aversion to mention mutants.
Dude, Joss Whedon wanted Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch in the movie (and they improved the dynamic more than if it had just been Avengers vs Ultron). You want him told hold off on that, base his decisions on a future cross over that might never even happen? And they legally can't mention mutants.
And if they did a cross over it would probably have to be of the "alternate universes/time lines intersecting" variety. How else would you explain why the Avengers didn't show up to help during the previous X-men movies? Or why mutants have been around for decades in the X-men movies but powered people just recently showed up in the Avengers? It really sounds like you didn't think this through.
Just to back Sarah up here...
I personally know a mixed-race couple, very dark skinned black man and a white woman, with a son who looks as white as Dave. It's actually proven a major problem before, because some people don't believe he is related to his father if they're out by themselves. So it's technically possible.
Pretty sure they're just gonna go with 'adopted' though, since studios think moviegoers are stupid and won't accept such a progressive answer.
I said something similar earlier.. Went to college with a girl who you would never have guessed was duel heritage. The actress Rebecca Hall's dad is a black dude. It's down to recessive. genes.
Actually it even more complicated than recessive/dominate. Human pigmentation is a multigenic trait whose phenotypical expression is determined at random depending on how the related alleles line up at conception its extremely unpredictable so much much so that that even when both parents are of 100% African ancestry while extremely rare one in several million can produce a child with a complexion as light as Caucasian person. When you consider that pretty 80% of black Americans descended from slaves have some amount of Caucasian ancestry when they mix with a Caucasian parent the results are all over the map and cannot be predicted even between siblings.
That's very enlightening. Coz the girl's older brother looked more obviously duel heritage. I got to admit, being a bit stupid at the time, I asked her about it and felt like a complete tool.
1 hour review. this can't be good.
Sarah sneezed three times at the 16:43 mark....
and no one said God bless you.
and thank god for that!
That whole Bruce Wednesday thing was riveting. Seriously. I was pulling for you guys to figure it out. You were trying so hard.
It says "fax me some halibut"
I get it! I understood that reference!
Joss had said that he doesn't want there to be a director's cut. He says he wants this to be the final cut.
Boo! I say, Boo!
Joss kinda needs to get over himself.
this movie was AWESOME my only nitpick was that Hulk didnt speak at all he was given a personality but i wish the hulk couldve spoke. jason Spader was awesome as Ultron
i disagree i think hulk can carry a movie and the actor playing him can definately carry a movie i just wish marvel would stop just focussing on one aspect of the character cause the character is based off of Dr Jekil Mr Hyde (also Frankenstein apperently) being he is two personalities or 2 entities in the same body and Universal and even Marvel keep focussing on one instead of two. i think a hulk movie can work like a storyline like Gamma World where the leader hulks villain an evil genious attempts to take over the world by turning everyone including the Avengers into hulks and Bruce Banner and the hulk both talk to each other through a mirror through their subcontious in order to work together to stop the leader and save everybody
I definitely agree. I'd like to see a Grey Hulk movie, but it's too "out there" even with an MCU that has Guardians. Unless they did Planet Hulk, what would they do? Joe Fix It?
Grey Hulk "Call me MR FIXIT" haha i loved the hulk animated series 1996
It still feels weird to me that I could see this in theatres before you guys over in the US... but hey... not complaining ;)
I'm glad someone else got Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flashbacks from the farm house.
You're not alone Sarah, I thought the "I'm infertile, so I'm a monster too" phrasing was a bit off. (Like you though I won't hold it against the rest of the movie."
yes, it is a good idea to not hold something against the movie, which is completely within your own imagination.
as she clearly said she was a monster, not because she can not breed. but because of what her assassin school taught her.
A lot of people I've spoken too agree as well. I don't think it was intentional at all but it was really badly worded.
I can't blame anyone who thinks that when they first hear the line. They should have rearranged the dialogue a bit so the 'I'm also a monster' part followed her talking about being an assassin.
I'm sorry, but I strongly disagree with both you and Sarah. There's no part of me that really thinks they're going with the "I'm a monster because I'm infertile" route, nor I had any doubt of they meant she had thought on herself as monster because she's an assassin.
But what's worry me the most is the fact that Joss Wheaton (the film's director) was chased out of Twitter because people were harassing him due to this interpretation.
Joss Whedon himself said he left Twitter because it was distracting him, not because of harassment.
What no Terminator:
Damn it Brian i such a cute teddy bear <3
Dave leaning out of frame was amusing. I request that this be an ongoing thing for him. We only see his torso, not his head.
'The Rick-Torso' instead of the 'The Rick-Head'? I dunno.... doesn't quite roll off the tongue....
9:05 Amadeus Cho is her son
I would prefer Age of Ultra Lord myself. Because it would make the action figures highly collectable.
Are you guys going to The Room? Looks like it's coming to your Showplace!
Ugh, reaally? You liked this piece of crap. This was the worst marvel movie yet. And you didn't like man of steel? What the hell? You are obviously DC haters and Marvel-Fanboys. You can see it on bearded guy number ones t-shirt and the way they talk about the marvel comics. Just Fanoys who want to see thir Hulkbuster armor, etc... and don't care about the actual story.
Oh lawd, I'm having Man of Steel comments flashbacks
yea there is a lot of nolan dick sucking in here. LOL
dear Brad; you want a lot of comments?
mention man of steel, or batman v superman in every video!
man of steel makes batman and robin look like a competent movie.
Ok that's going a bit far.
Ok, you either need to:
1 - Go watch more movies
2 - see a new doctor
perhaps it isn't going far enough. batman and robin was at least fun. batman and robin had Arnold. batman and robin was brightly lit. batman and robin didn't shy away from color. batman and robin never tried to be anything more then it is. which is an action film based on a comic. batman and robin was never had batman break people's necks. or do anything else TOTALLY out of character.
man of steel did do all that. Batman and Robin is at least a fun movie.
Man of Steel tried SO hard to be a good movie, that it forgot to add the fun.
when i say batman and robin makes man of steel look competent, i mean it.
Batman and Robin is more fun and I would rather watch it again than Man of Steel, but I wouldn't say it's a more competent movie. Man of Steel is competent enough that it doesn't work on a "fun trainwreck" level like B&R but not so competent that it works on an "actually good" level.
Man of Steel does not work at all.
even as a trainwreck. it does not work as entertainment. it does not work as a superman film. it doesn't even work as a film. batman and robin has at least that much going for it.
you can say it is a film.
unless of course you take man of steel as being purposely filmed to be the worst superhero of all time.
which i wouldn't put it past zack snyder on that. considering he is still sucking Frank Miller's balls.
[voice of Pvt. Hudson]
"You gotta be fucking kidding me...."
The main problem with Batman and Robin is that is deliberately camp and was trying to be a colorful family movie with knowing winks at the audience. It ended up inducing a kind of mass homosexual panic attack in DC fans because of bat nipples or something. Man Of Steel. I think is incoherent and jumpy. It's one of the worst examples of "cut to the action" filmmaking done on a huge budget. There's no actual story telling, just random scenes vaguely linked together. by exposition. I think this is down to Zack Snyder, Most of his films are just scenes vaguely connected, but usually don't even bother trying to make much narrative sense. Bat Man v Superman will be exactly the same as the trailer except longer and noisier.
I'm wondering if "Bruce Wednesday" is somehow Before I Wake. It's the only one I can thing of with the initials BW (not counting the I)
"Amadues Cho.... let's all think about a dude for a minute"
I immediately pictured Tom Hulce in yellowface.
... and with that, my left wing credentials are shattered. Thanks, Brad.
The creepy comments on here about Sarah rival some of the creepy comments Lindsay's gotten.
Can't say in this thread-line I've seen anything -terribly- creepy about Sarah. *I* said I adore her, but simply because she's seems fun and perky. Which I don't think is entirely creepy.
I have seen in other threads creep -and terrible- things said about her which, I agree, is just some terrible stuff. But sometimes I guess the Internet brings out the darkside of some people's misogamy. (See: Gamergate.)
Yeah, I guess I wasn't thinking about your comment specifically. I watch a lot of the older videos on here.
Yeah it seems no matter who it is - whether it's Sarah, or Jillian, or Leah, or Mantis, or really basically anyone with a pulse and a pair of boobs - there's always one or two cellar-dwellers who crawl out from under their rocks, just to monkey-toss shit around. Maybe their moms didn't spank them enough when they were growing up.... yeesh.
SPOILERS: If you haven't seen 'Age of Ultron' than do not read further.
The movie was very enjoyable and fun, although I felt the structure of the movie was cluttered with the sheer amount of characters and plots going on. There simply wasn't enough time given to some of the newer characters. Great film but it doesn't surpass the original Avengers movie.
But first the good stuff. Ultron was a very fun and unhinged villain. Vision was amazing and I wanted to see more of him. Hawkeye was finally given some character development and increased screen time. The action was amazing and fluid. The comedy and humor was great and played to everyone's strengths. The biggest and most important element is that I was never once bored and was invested in the whole film.
Now for the things that I felt were off or too quickly brushed aside because of running time:
-Baron von Strucker wasn't utilized effectively and they killed him offscreen with little fanfare for the leader of Hydra.
-I wasn't buying the romance between Black Widow and Bruce Banner; however, their performances were excellent. If they were just friends helping each other through their troubles then I feel it would have been a more natural fit.
-Thor going to that magic pool to find out about the Infinity Stones was a little contrived and strange for such an important plot detail for the Infinity War run-up. Why did Erik Selvig need to be there? All he did was stand there and maybe light a few candles.
-While I liked Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver didn't leave much of an impression on me. Their hatred of Tony Stark was a driving force behind them siding with Ultron; however, that plotline was quickly resolved in an unsatisfactory fashion. Also, those Eastern European accents they used were not convincing and could of been dropped altogether.
-Falcon was barely in the movie which is a shame because he is one of the best new MCU characters.
-Tony Stark and Caps relationship was very rosy at the end of the film and left on a positive note. This is interesting because they will be at each others throats when Civil War happens. You would think that they would leave with some sort of animosity in the wake of Ultron's rampage that will carry into Civil War, but I digress.
All in all a very fun film but also structurally flawed. I think 'Guardians of the Galaxy' and the first 'Avengers' movie did better jobs of balancing large casts of characters while telling compelling stories. Don't get me wrong, I loved the movie I just don't think it is Marvel's strongest effort.
Did anyone ever figure out Bruce Wednesday?
My best guess is Reese Witherspoon, but I'm stretching it heavily.
He's Ruby Tuesday's cousin.
A question related to the Batman v Superman and Zack Snyder-topic: Did any of you guys ever see Watchmen and what did you think of it? I haven't myself (yet) seen any of Snyder's movies, but I've read/heard a lot of good things about Watchmen.
Watchmen is a good movie...not great, but good. I'd suggest reading the graphic novel first (if you haven't already) and then watch the flick. I personally enjoyed it...but I'm one of those people that sees the comic and the movie as two separate things, whereas some of the hardcore fans of the graphic novel despise the movie for *reasons*.
I saw it today and I had the Superman V Batman trailer. I'm in New Hampshire so it must depend on the location. Also Sweet reference to Phase IV, I love that movie, you should do a Snob episode on it. Good review guys.
How does Dave not know how to say "Mjolnir?" If he's been a comics reader/fan his whole life and I've only been a fan of Marvel's stuff for the few years they've done movies, how is it that *I* know how to say it but he still muddies it up?
Got back from watching it. Really enjoyed it!
The Black Widow/Hulk thing felt like it came out of left field, and it kept up a pretty breakneck pace, but those are really minor gripes. On the whole, I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable, nicely set up Phase III, and everybody got their moment to shine.
I got to like the Pietro version of Quicksilver, even if the Future's Past version was more of a glorious smart-alec, and will miss Jarvis as the reassuring voice in Iron Man's head - not sure how I feel about this Friday AI - but was wowed by Vision, loved Ultron, and really liked that Jeremy Renner got more to do, and even lampshaded how he kinda sticks out as the "normie" of the team.
Didn't get the Dawn of Justice trailer in front of it, but I did get an Ant Man trailer I hadn't seen before - it actually admits the film has a sense of humour, which the first one didn't, and seeing him nearly run over by Thomas the tank engine was laugh-out-loud funny. Maybe it won't be on the scale of Guardians, or the Avengers' solo films, but I definitely don't think a smaller-scale movie isn't a bad thing.
Speaking of trailers, last time I was in a movie theatre I saw the trailer for Pitch Perfect 2.
...oh boy. Good luck with that guys, because it looks like a fucking doozy.
Don't watch the fantastic four. Why? One word: "Fox". Fox has a death grip on Doom /and/ Reed Richards. The avengers is lacking enough without wolverine, which isn't changing any time soon, with how well days of future past did. Why do you think the maximov twins had a case of "my parents are dead" backstory, ruining their daddy issues (marvel /has/ been forced to change the core of some characters)? Because Marvel doesn't have Magneto's movie rights, and it never will, at this rate. I don't care how good of a movie it will be, it's not worth the cost.
Do Dave and Brian have Marvel Unlimited? They must right?
I think the next Snobcast should just be Brian and Dave explaining comic book shit to Brad.
After seeing "The Avengers: Age of Ultron", and the fact that they end the movie introducing a new team for the Avengers, I have really high hopes that I will eventually see She-Hulk show up in the not too distant future (especially seeing as Banner keeps disappearing, got to have the green in there somewhere).
I'm just here cause Sarah looks pretty.
I'm only here cause Dave looks pretty.
At this point the MCU is just tiring me; the problem is that the movies are blurring together, never really having their own tone and are blatantly just being strung together as hype machines for future movies that are hype machines for future movies, including the Avengers. It's just irritating.
Also, I find it funny how the MCU gave up on trying Quicksilver. Guess Brian Singer's version left too much of an impression to top.
I actually thought that the Eric banner hulk looked better than this one.
Age of Ultron was ok...it felt a bit rushed, TBH. I kind of wished that Marvel and introduced Hank Pym in Iron Man 3 as an employee of Stark Industries developing the Ultron project...it would have fit nicely into Stark dealing with PTSD. Perhaps it could have worked as a post-credit scene? Then you could have a montage as the opening credits scene of Age of Ultron where we see Pym and Stark working together on it, failing, and then you get the reveal of Ultron waking up later on during the party scene. It just seems to flow better that way, at least in my mind...
Overall, I was a bit disappointed with AoU...it wasn't bad or anything, I just don't think it's as great as some people think it is. I think the script should have been expanded a little bit and broken up into two films...one released in the summer and one at Christmas. It just felt like there was too much going on for 1 movie to adequately explore.
Honestly, I agree that Natasha line wasn't exactly good. She has a point, and it does have some unfortunate implications, even if it wasn't meant as that.
I just got back from watching this and I got the Batman V Superman trailer. Which made me groan really loudly.
Man of Steel is a sweet movie, Avengers blows. That's a fact
Can't say I can argue with those amazing in-depth facts you present.
man of steel was a bland grey joyless piece of SHIT The Marvel movies are Awesome Warner Brothers could do the same thing with their movies injest some humour followed by COLOR and it would work look at the cw tv shows like Arrow and the Flash if Warner Brothers utilised their properties and had faith in their tv shows and their actors playing in the the tv shows they would be doing what Marvel isnt doing.
I notice that there hasn't been a Snob episode (or anything else) this week.
Is that a cause for concern, or is Brad just taking it easy?
I think Bruce Wednesday was "Before I Wake."
Can I just mention how freaking hot Elizabeth Olsen was in this? Actually made me forget who her sisters are.
i know right thats what i thought to she was awesome and hot in Avengers age of ultron and am i the only one that didnt care that quicksilver was killed off in the end. Wanda was very well pecieved in this film it was so cool to see her use her weird hex powers to see what she could do
how is the opposite of Betty Veronica?
I didn't take the Black Widow sterility thing as "I'm a monster because I can't have children," so much as "I feel like a monster because I was trained to take people's lives and I can't bring life into the world" but that's just me tho
Filling out Hawkeye's character was nice but I'd at least liked to have seen a mention of BJ, Trapper John, Col. Potter, Frank Burns, and the rest.
Ba dum tish.
Don't forget that they've changed Iron Fist's costume to white & gold which, for that design, I really like:
