Welcome back, Jillian! We missed you! :)
Urghh, it's Mistress J, thank you very much!!
Go away, Faggot Josh.
I think you mean Jaggot Fosh... which I think is a bounty hunter from star wars.
Jillian! We missed you!
I shall watch the video now. Can't wait to see what you guys thought of this... The original terrified me as a kid (and made me laugh out loud as a teen.)
Speaking of Tomorrow Land, does anyone else notice the Clooney looks really bored in the trailers? He seems to be taking it all nonchalance and completely uninterested in what's going on.
Good god, that Genysys really did spoil basically everything, didn't it. I can't say it looks good, or that I'm particularly interested, but I will say the Young Arnold was a great effect. I was sure they must have found an exact body double, instead of a CGI effect.
After I've seen Mad Max, the only movies I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year are Jurassic World and Star Wars. They're certainly the only ones I'm planning to see. Anything else big this year you guys (other commenters) are looking forward to?
Also, Jillian, by "black market" did you mean Brian? I hear he's in the human trafficking business.
And thus you have garnered Boyd's respect . . . though not Dave's, since I doubt he's any to spare Xb
Mad Max will obviously be the best of the bunch, but I still intend to see Ant-Man (the humor looks right up my alley, and the trailers have hooked me more than those for Avengers) and M.I. Rogue Nation (the stunt work and practical action looks great, and Cruise and Pegg are consistently entertaining actors, personal life for Cruise aside). I will also be seeing Spectre on goodwill from Skyfall, along with seeing Christoph Waltz as a Bond villain. Still no major promotional material for The Hateful Eight (last year's teaser doesn't count), but Tarantino is on a winning streak and I will certainly see that. There's a couple others, but those plus Star Wars are the big names for me this year (outside of the movies already out).
Have it as #1 of my watchlist for quite a while already even though we're still a while from any trailers it seems (which I'll try to avoid... wish I would have managed to do that with Interstellar last year x__x)
Gimme dem big budget hard-scifi movies.
Wait....the new remake has sports in it?
ALWAYS nice to see Jillian :)
What's fun about her is even when she doesn't like a movie (such as here) she's upbeat, charming & just a joy to watch. Welcome back, J!
Also Brad, the boy in the Babadook is the MOST annoying child I've EVER seen in a movie. I don't condone harming children but that little *$@ pushed me to the limit!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that kid got smacked around quite a lot in The Babadook... plus, comparatively speaking with other movies Brad has watched and introduced all of us by proxy to (To Catch a Yeti) the kid in Babadook is a goddamn artisan.
Again, he's the most annoying kid "I've" ever seen, in an entire movie. Sorry for any confusion or misjudgment of other hell spawns :)
Aaaaaaaw shit! Jillian!
I actually made a sound when I saw Jillian was back. It wasn't brad's squeaky sound, but it was more like a little girl's "Eeeeee!". It was short, but it happened.
Maybe its just me, but I've noticed that in the more recent reviews the car dome light seems to go off in seemingly well timed spots (here at 8:53 when he finished saying why he thought about recommending the movie as a rental, and then at 28:54 when shes briefly pauses in mid sentence)
Welcome back Jilly-bean, we missed you! (And I hope your sleepless nights got better!) <3
As for the this movie sounds like it doesn't have any of the talent and sheer heart of the first one. This is the first of these remakes where I really said, "don't do it - this doesn't need a remake!"
But I could be biased because I actually read the novelization of the movie and enjoyed all the background detailing it put into the base story (especially when fleshing out Tangina - I LOVE that character SO much!)
Anybody else read the book?
I am absolutely using this from now on!
LOL.... alright, but only if you gift me with some of those sweet sweet Brian photos from your secret stash.... Mmmm beard! ;)
Woah, that hair Jillian, I love it. :D
A bit late for Throwback Thursday, but hey, I'm never one to dis the Mistress J. A welcome return, if not an actual resumption.
I see what you guys mean about how the Pixels movie could go either way. The trailer looks okay. I kind of want to see it out of curiosity. Either way, it's probably going to be funnier than "Grown Ups 2".
I'd like to add something. I think it's safe to say we're all in agreement that T5 looks bad, but I had a crazy thought so, dig on this. Maybe they're cleverly pulling one on us & all these spoilers aren't REALLY in the movie, but mere sly marketing ploys to blow your mind with the actual final product. What if in the movie there's none of this "John is man/machine hybrid" crap but instead just a whole 2 hours of the only thing people have been asking for: the future war we've only seen flashbacks of in Cameron's films. How awesome would that be?! It wouldn't be just a retread of the previous films (T3 & Genesys)) & we'd finally get to see John Conner LEAD the resistance as opposed to being someone's bitch. Also, Michael Biehn would reprise HIS role as Sgt. Reese while Jai Courtney is relegated to being just another piece of cannon fodder. Then you could have different endings, one where we win & another where Skynet sends the T-800 back in time to 1984, then right before their defense grid is smashed they send a newly formed prototype, the deadly T-1000 (played by Robert Patrick, of course!) back to 1997 (?) & now we've come full circle thus ENDING the Terminator franchise. Eh, that's how I'd do it.
Also, anyone notice how pleasant everyone is today? I wonder, is it because of Jillian's return from obscurity? Who knows. . .
other than the Shadow, of course.
1: Welcome back, Miss Zurawski (hope I spelled this correctly)
2: Rockwell in it and not dancing? That makes no sense!?!
I'm mainly surprised Rockwell never danced in Seven Psychopaths, especially since that was one of the most batshit characters he's ever played.
he didn't? I thought he was a little
Well 7 psychos was good enugh without his moves though
DAMN Jillian! You're looking great!
To that same old place that you laughed about.
Well the names have all changed since you hung around,
But those dreams have remained and they're turned around.
welcome back welcome back! =D
Ah sam didn't dance ....boo no dance no stars!!
I didn't think this movie was going to be good ...i loooove the original one it felt so good this ...looks like shiiiiit
I hope your insomnia gets cured
Ugh genisys ....looks like ass
Yay Jillian! Great review guys! I can't wait for more "Reviewers" and "Lloyd!
Welcome back Jillian, like the new hair do, went all 8th season "Big Bang Theory" with it I see.
Just saw Madmax Fury Road for the third time last night. Im going to see it again next week :D. WHAT A LOVELY DAY
Welcome back Jillian! We missed you!
Honestly the most crushing thing about the thing is the lack of Sam Dance.
One other movie Sam Rockwell didn't dance in was the first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This is before he was famous, though.
Oh well hello Jillian... I thought you were dead.
Seriously I thought Brad had killed, buried you, then dug you up, fucked the corpse, reburied it, then waited a while, dug up the corpse again, let Brian sell it into slavery, bought it back from a couple of shifty criminal low-budget snuff filmmakers, posted some hilarious pictures of the both of you on Twitter, and finally given you a true blue Christian funeral.
And that's my pitch for a new series called "Brad Tries Life Imitating Art".
You,RandyPan and LLoydfan are all in the same milk and cookies class at school aren't you?
Cause we like that titty sauce and those Chips Ahoy!
Come join us!
Forever and ever and ever...
Hope the black market business is working out for you, Jillian. That's one of those places I've always wanted to go to but have never been. I don't see myself needing to buy a baby,or slaves for that mater, anytime soon, but if it ever comes up, I know which site to go to first.
Jillian should keep short hair =)
I will always be amazed at how well you guys still get along after you broke up, kudos!
Hey, Jillian is back and so is my appetite for baby-burgers! Win-win!
At least we got SOMETHING good from this movie.
Will there be a Midnight Screening for Tomorrowland, or will it not get one because of the weird screening situation? Because right now I'm paralyzed with indecision over that movie.
I saw the movie. it is actually surprisingly really good. it is fun, very pretty, and optimistic as hell.
also has to be one of the most violent disney films i have seen this decade. lol but they get away with it by saying most of the people dying are robots. not all of them are robots though.
hell, this movie ends with a child sacrifice, by our heroes. which was totally unnecessary considering they still had 57 days to go...
but the movie is really fun. Clooney, Robertson, and Cassidy, are all fantastic. have wonderful chemistry together.
and Hugh Laurie is amazing.
If you want to watch Clooney Sacrifice a child, watch this movie.
This movie is another prime example of a movie that isn't "bad" per-se, but simply completely unnecessary.
It would've been much smarter if they had just re-released the original to theaters again. It would've been cheaper, audiences would've been happier, and the studio probably would've made more money.
This is an overall note for Jillian, and all the Midnight Screenings she does:
Stop apologizing! Your not doing anything wrong!
I love how when Jillian makes a comparison on the movie or likens it to something else often times the other person(s) won't quite get what she's getting at and then she has to apologize and re-form her thoughts.
Always good to see Jillian in the screenings. Hope to see one for Tomorrowland pop up later on tomorrow. Honestly, I think the screenings should have their own separate links/pages anyway in order to keep the comments "on topic" -so to speak- instead of thoughts/reactions to a couple different movies all going on at once.
Wow Jillian looks so great! It's nice to have her back!
More Jillian !!! I'm a patreon dammit ....make it so ! Great to see you two together :)
When was the last time Brad laughed or smiled while doing a review with Jillian?
I didn't think it was a bad movie just a pointless one.
Why spend £7-10 (whatever that is in dollars) on a cinema ticket or £10 - 20 when it's released on Blu ray when you can buy the superior original for WAY less (even the Blu Ray)
JILLIAN IS BACK YAY!
Hey there, Julian! I'm glad to see you back.
Anyway, I'm not totally against the idea of remakes. The Dawn of the Dead remake, for example, is good. I really had hoped that the Carrie remake would be good, but it wasn't.
Sadly, this Poltergeist one indeed does suck.
Finally, someone gets the origins of this username.
I picked it based off a Resident Evil joke that Phelous made in an old video.
Welcome back Jillian. As far as I understand it, the reason Arnold is older in the new Terminator is that his Terminator was sent further back in time than the original T-800 was, in order to save Sarah as a child from an attempt on her life, and he's hung around ever since as her protector.
I totally understand the trepidation about the movie, but I do like the John twist because he is pretty much the ultimate trump card to use on Sarah and Kyle, as John's the last person they'd want to harm and it gives him an edge no other Terminator has ever had.
At the end when they're with the new realtor looking for a new house I was kind of sort of hoping it would be the Amityville house because why the fuck not? That would have been a really stupid but awesome joke.
Welcome back Jillian!
There's some films that just can't be "remade". It's not possible! lol The tater tots will try, but... You can't surpass that which is already perfect. Nor add to it. Leave it to the tater tots to think they can reinvent the wheel. lol A Masterpiece is a Masterpiece for a reason. If you paint your own... God Bless you! But don't call it the Mona Lisa, the Holy Bible or whatever. lol
Jillian is back!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!
Welcome back Jillian. You can check out anytime but you can never leave.
This movie... not as bad as the "Psycho" remake?
B: " I try to be optimistic to. "
J : " Are you... Optimistic Prime ? "
Glad to see you back =)
Yup, I chuckled at that to. Brad and Jillian are always fun on these, hopefully we'll continue to see her pop up on these after Jurassic World.
I found this really boring. I was sad they changed the pot scene to a alcohol scene. The mother character was annoying. The dad not being part of the development and just an unemployed guy kinda wrecked the drama. The way the twist was revealed was the worst! The psychic dude just tells them! So lame. See the original, and fuck this remake.
Has anyone seen The Gallows trailer. It has an emo version of Smells Like Teen Spirit.
Haven't watched the video yet, but I've seen clips of this as I have been cleaning theaters. It looks decent, just doesn't look like they try anything new with the story. The big thing I'm worried about is weather or not they keep the comic relief that the original had. It was a good mood lightener, and honestly made me feel like I could watch the movie with a family... up until the bodies pop out of the house, but meh.
I love the poltergeist movies but I always get bummed out because of what happened to Heather O'Rourke.
Wow, Jillian can really blabber on. I still remember that Silent Hill review where she ranted for a solid 5 minutes while everyone sat around uncomfortably
What are you talking about? The Silent Hill review was one of Jillian's best videos BECAUSE she was so passionate about the source material and clearly articulated why the movie was a poor adaptation. The other guys could see why it was a bad movie, but Jillian made it clear why it was a bad SILENT HILL movie.
Simply put...there are times (MANY times, in fact) where Hollywood should just let a classic be a classic and leave well enough alone. POLTERGEIST was one of those times. It was fine as it was.
Agreed. Remake movies that were bad - make them better. If there’s a single word that sums up the remake of Poltergeist it is “banal.” This is a dull film, devoid of life or energy. The actors go through the motions of a story that really doesn’t merit being repeated. There’s nothing to improve upon. Even the special effects feel artificial. There’s no wonder or spectacle or magic. Again, why remake his movie? Why not update it. Tell us what is happening to Carol Ann now as she enters her 40s? Anything but this.
