Oh my God. We had to watch this thing in school. And this would have been circa 1990 or so and our school was still playing these hokey '70s films.

US public school? For some reason all the sex-ed material always seems stuck in a time-warp. Hell, in our health class, we watched a pretty modern anti-drug film with cursing, but when it came to sex-ed all the videos were clearly decades older. I guess when it comes to "controversial" topics, it's a lot harder to get new materials approved by the school board.

Today has been an interesting day for me and certainly hilarious with watching the Samurai Sluts From Hell review back-to-back with this review of a terribly awkward "educational film". Hopefully this means brad you're likely to do more episodes for DVD-R Hell, because much like your Snob videos, its always a treat to see you suffer through the strange and ridiculous from time to time.

Huh. So that's what a live-action Moral Orel would look like.

And, wait..."Dear Diary"...oh dip, is that the one where the girl's friends get a hold of her diary, and she gives this hilariously goofy "ohhhhh, you guys!" expression, and also has the creepy lady who works at a clothing shop who juuuust happened to be listening in on a conversation about breasts being different sizes in a fitting room and being intrigued about the topic (basically this version's creepy zookeeper)...if it is, then holy hell in a frilly training bra, we saw that thing in junior high and all laughed at how ludicrous it was! The fact I even *remember* it after all these years shows how silly it was.

Oh please let that be the next DVD-R Hell, oh please, oh please!

I'd say, "No, it won't break off if you jerk off too much, nor will you go blind or grow hair on your palms, but you will find it more and more difficult to get it up, forcing you to think about weirder and weirder things, until one day, you're standing in a white room with a gun to the back of your head, and the newspapers calling 'The Rostov Ripper'."

That's a great idea having something like the Schoolhouse Rock Bill sitting somwhere and singing. I picture a dildo sitting in front of an adult theatre singing "I'm just a dick. Yes I'm only a dick. And I'm sittin' here with a bunch of pricks."

Adam Carolla back when he was on Loveline would think of sex ed versions of the Schoolhouse Rock songs. And they actually had the guy that wrote the songs and did most of the singing in the original songs on the show and Adam shared his idea of doing sex ed versions of songs and the guy said that wouldn't be something I would do.

For "The Talk" my parents gave me a book too, but they told me to ask if I had any questions, so that's something.

One weird thing about the book: they had comics that humanized the sperm, giving them smiling faces. This made a weird contrast were the comic portrayed the "losing" sperm as just bummed out that they lost the race to the egg, while just bellow it a paragraph explains that they're all going to die.

First time commenting. DVD-R Hell is actually my favorite series on the site. This "film" is less awful than I would have thought, but still pretty terrible. It's dated, bizarre, and cringe-inducing, but it seems well-intentioned at least. Far more so than any of the wretched fundamentalist Christian videos Brad has covered on this show. Rock: It's Your Decision made me want to hurt something. I had to blast some old Nine Inch Nails to clear the rage from my brain on that one. Anyway, very funny episode and I hope Brad keeps making them whenever he has the time. I really like the other shows on the site as well BTW, I'd just say that this is my favorite format.

I did not watch this sex ed film growing up but I watched many others. I watched the Magic Johnson and Arsenio Hall video about AIDS in the 8th grade. And the video you reviewed with Justin and Justine Bateman in it.

One I would love to rewatch again are two films, a male one and a female one. They were made by Disney and they even had their own theme songs about growing up and how it's scary but exciting too. The female one the girl gets her period at a slumber party and the friend's mother has to explain everything. The first year we saw those, the boys left the room and watched the films in another room. I have tried to look them up on Youtube and other places online many times and I have not found them.

Films we watched growing up were weird. Their was one with a guy that lived on a boat and he had a jar of mixed pills. Like a big mason jar. He would drink alcohol and take a handful of pills out of the jar and swallow them. The narrator said this was a few months ago and this man is dead from mixing alcohol and pills.

Also we saw another film about why their are rules. This boy that was the older brother took some ice cream out of the cartoon and just left the ice cream on the counter. His younger brother comes up to him and says you left out the ice cream it's all melted now you are supposed to put it back. He says why I got what I wanted out of it or something like that. The younger brother says you know the rules you have to put it back now it's all melted and it's liquid, now I cannot have any. And the older brother says have fun drinking your ice cream and laughs.

Now, I have never seen a child be so naive about things they leave the ice cream out like that before ever. You would only do that if you were a douchebag and that is just how it is. I remember him breaking a rule and it hurting him at the end and then him vowing not to break rules anymore. But still what a selfish bastard lol.

I was given those Sex Ed books by my mom growing up. The worst thing about it was that she was also super paranoid about the sex talk, because in her line of work, she sees many pregnant teenagers. I understand why she was extra protective, but I still would've liked for her to have been more honest and open about it instead of being scared I would turn out a teenager and pregnant. I'm in my 20's now and never had gotten pregnant, so I think I'm doing ok.

I never saw this or Dear Diary.. What my school liked playing every time we had a Sex-Ed class was called The Miracle of Life, which has a pretty infamous birth scene in it.
In school I'd seen the damn thing about 8 times.. and it never gets any less gross.
I also had a health teacher in high school who had an infamous "blue cookie tin". It was a huge cookie tin with old condoms (male and female varieties), fem-sponges.. You name it, it was probably in that damned thing. Everything was old and yellowing so it really didn't help things..

So... true story. I got into hot water for laughing at this film when it was shown to me back in 1996. I wasn't laughing at the subject matter, I was laughing how terribly out-dated this was -- nearly 20 years ago now -- and the way this information was being imparted was too much for me to handle. They told me I was immature and insensitive for laughing ... turns out, with this video for proof, I was just ahead of my time.

Anyone else wishing that sex-ed video they created in the movie "The Girl Next Door" was real? I know I'd pay attention to it. The "sex ed" video I had to watch in school was so dated the teacher noted that she was younger than it. I never received the talk, but even I know at that point that the video was talking garbage.

Also, note - Too much masturbation CAN do physical harm in the long run. Not like blatant damage, but you lose a ton of nutrients in an orgasm.

These educational films are so priceless. I remember we watched hardcore porn when we were around 8-10 year olds. Then they start this award education around 3-4 years later. Guess it was all usefull for christian morons who were scared their cocks get hard randomly.
We figured out ways to find that shit way before internet. Parents these days or their offspring are absolute fags if they cant figure that shit out bythemselfes.
