I have to say, this is my new favorite episode.
They still can't afford the comma for the title huh?
I will say this was way better than the pilot, at least. You guys were funny and it wasn't 45 minutes long.
Without the comma it does lend itself to a double meaning, not just being the quote, but the winner would be a Hotshot at pop quizes?
I got nothing.
Who's the other dude?
Brad Jones. The owner of this site.
Never heard of him.
The Australian soccer player?
So is the physical challenge literally 100% pointless filler?
Do they still not understand basic lighting and game show style cinematography?
They still have the seems in the wall?
Still cant rig a light and buzzer?
Still have flawed editing showing Brad having 60 points before the questions even start?
Still flawed at its core concept?
Still using a clip on mic because none of the actual podium mics are worth a shit?
See this is why i come straight here for Brad Jones' awesomeness and not to CA anymore.
At the very least Yo and Brad's passive aggressive and sarcastic demeanor made this actually funny.
They only had 90000 to make so please don't be so critical.
If they had 80 million dollars it could've been a bit more decent.
Without criticism,how would anyone improve?
Well, it finally happened: I sat through an entire episode of Pop Quiz Hotshot. They've definitely made some improvements since the pilot.
Brad and Yo were very funny in this episode.
Well with the critic dead that means this terrible show is over right?
At least they found a way to make 1 funny episode.
You're nothing but a good duck, Brad.
Hahaha this is great! Brad also made me really want to see an NC-17 Dreamworks remake of Down and Dirty Duck. Which could be the greatest animated film of all time!
"I finally enjoy being on this show."
Yeah, I don't think Brad keeps it a secret that even he thought the pilot episode was a piece of shit. Explains why he never posted it on this site. I certainly found the contestants on this episode funnier than on other episodes (though the guy in the Shader outfit was still badass).
I hope your charity appreciated the donation. You're certainly a trooper for doing this. The show is still 'meh' for me. The set still looks cheap (probably because it is) and whoever is controlling the scores still can't do it right. Also, I could hardly see said scores for the most part. At least the audience isn't huffing laughing gas this time and the jokes are actually funny.
I used to enjoy quiz shows.
In the 70s.
I used to enjoy quiz shows before Pop Quiz Hotshot ruined them for ever.
Omg this one is even worse than the first, is this shit created by 2 year old retarded frogs???
Those are some old frogs. Retarded or not, they must have gathered wisdom at that age.
Hey they sort of improved the microphones. The show still sucks.
HURF DURF THIS WUZ MAYDE BY DUG WOKKER AND THUS IT SUXX! FUK CHANNIL AWSUM AND EVRYBUDDY HOO WERKS THERE! I DEEMAND ALL INTURNET PROWGRAMMING HAVE HOLLYWOOD PRODUKTSHUN VALYOOS!
Truth be told, the show has gotten better each episode, and they have been listening to the criticism and taking it to heart.
Imitating someone to make them sound stupid by sounding stupid always backfires. Always.
DUH, I'M TROGGLE! I'M STUPID!
Just fuckin' with ya...
Having worked in the broadcast medium before, I just get particularly irritated with the idea that $90,000 is a lot of money. Yeah, on paper it sounds like a lot, but once you factor in studio rental, equipment, and basic overhead, you'll be lucky to have 1/10th of that left over for actually putting together what goes on in front of the camera. The average over-the-air game show budget is $700,000 per episode. Doug and company have $90,000 to produce the entire show, period.
There is no "studio and equipment rental" and nobody whose last name isn't Walker gets paid for their work at Channel Awesome. So much for the "overhead". Ask Phelan Porteous and Allison Pregler about that.
Not a cent of the much-talked-about $90k went into the show. All the crappy props for the show were built before the Indiegogo campaign successfully concluded. The money was used to balance Channel Awesome's dark red bank account and keep them from falling into insolvency.
Source? Channel Awesome's former PR person says so. She's the only person at CA who didn't treat content providers like shit and has nothing to win by lying about this.
(Just FYI, making $90k on an Indiegogo campaign doesn't mean you get to go home with that sum. Indiegogo takes 5%, PayPal and the friendly folks at the credit card company take up to 9%. That's before everybody else comes in in to make their claims.)
So what is the budget for the show, then, since you know everything, TTH?
I believe there's a law that saws that game show contestants can't know the host before they compete for the first time. This was apparently passed to prevent any Quiz Show-style shenanigans.
I have know idea if this applies to an online quiz show or a comedic parody of one, though.
they're playing for charity, so it doesn't matter. Consider this to be the 'celebrity' episode.
Internet talking faces episode. Whatever.
So since Brad won and NC got shot, does that mean Brad will be hosting again? At least it's funny when he's around.
I hope not. I thought Brad has escaped this mess.
