In this brand new sitcom style series on thecinemasnob.com, Brad stars as 80's Dan, a figure magically transported into the present.  Along with his sidekick Rob the Robot,  Dan becomes roommates with the lovely Dolly (Jillian Zurawski) and attempts to expose 80's greatness to not only her, but his neighbors The Crabtrees.  In this episode, Dan spotlights the pilot episode of the 1983 short lived series "Automan."

I loved the Miggs references especially since Miggs was only mention (truly) in either the extended version of the Silence of the Lambs but also Silence of the Lambs, the book, and Hannibal the book. I don't know if it's a movie or a book reference but I laugh because he flings cum on her face :D

So, this is my first episode of '80s Dan, and I'm going to be honest here... Good concept and I really enjoy the banter between Dan and Dolly. ..That said, Mr Crabtree is a rather poor character and Rob is just annoying and not a very original concept. Pat the NES Punk also has a crass Rob sidekick.
It also doesn't help that, for an anthropomorphic third wheel, Rob here has the most generic and monotoned voice to ever come out of a 30 year old man. The little guy has no charisma or charm.

I want to add that it isn't a well conceived idea to have every character (sans Dan) to be so cynical, critical and negative. It works great between Dan and Dolly, and I enjoyed that part of the episode, but when everyone is going to be that way, it's just too much.
I understand that they're representing the pompous and ignorant generation of the new millennium, but if at least one of them was written as the open-minded and supportive type, I think it would create some interesting chemistry in the group. I could see Mrs Crabtree filling that role.

Anyway, I'm going to check some more episodes and see where the show goes.

By the way, I love Dan's character!

It's the pilot, it's not very good, plus it was filmed a few years ago =) Like any show, the characters grow a lot more in the ongoing episodes. The Christmas Specials are worth checking out, so is the Sweenz episode, and the Halloween episodes.

Jimmy Conners not Jimmy Carter. Or was that on purpose?

I'm going to think that was on purpose until otherwise notified.

Frank Furrillo and Barney Miller were pretty nice police captains in the 80s.
