I saw the trailer to "The Voices". It's directed by the writer of "Persepolis", which is one of my favorite pieces of literature ever. Plus I like Ryan Reynolds.

I honestly really liked Outcast. I don't know why, but the movie worked for me. For the simple movie that it was, it made the best of it. I liked the characters, I understood where they were coming from, and I was entertained. It's also my favorite Hayden Christensen performance. I will support him at any point I can.

I found out some time ago that Ryan Reynolds also voiced the pets which is funny because when I saw the trailer, I thought the dog was voiced by Gary Busey!

Also, please tell me that the poster has to be one of the worst for a good movie ever designed!

Fucking Willis man, when will he stop slumming it and make good fucking movies again, or atleast a 90s type movie. Lately, off and on camera, he acts like hes got a huge stick up his ass. But hes capable of comedy. Moonlighting and even The Kid proved that. Goddamn it Willis

I too am annoyed with Willis's persistent boredom/nonchalance/etc. for the last decade-plus now. It's almost to the point where it might be starting to affect how I view his older films where he still had some character. Where is the Bruno from The Last Boy Scout or even The Fifth Element?

How he could still be considered a name draw anymore confounds me, but I suppose he's already been slipping out of marquee status as well based on some of these more recent films. And I'm not rooting against the guy, it's just honestly disheartening how empty his performances have become.

I.m a big fan of on demand and the like. it reminds me of being a kid in the late 80s to early 90s. Hit and miss VHS rentals. Most of the cheesy horror films I grew up watching were on tape and there seemed to be hundreds of them released every week. A lot of crap but some good stuff as well. I never grew out of them. 360 films in a year, No problem..

I saw nothing but negative AWFUL reviews for "Vice." I think it's 0% on Rotten Tomatoes as of its opening weekend.

The Statham movie is one I was interested in until I watched the Burt Reynolds' original called "Heat," and then, I rewatched the "Wild Card" trailer which showed that it was a beat-for-beat remake. So, I wasn't so keen to watch it. Plus, it'll be out on DVD & Blu Ray next month. I won't have to pay $7 to see it.

And the Burt Reynolds film is okay. A bit tonally inconsistent, but what do you expect from a film made by six directors? Burt's really solid in it, has a suspenseful climax, but it could certainly be done better. Sad to know that it didn't happen, and slipped through the fingers of a very good director who could've made it a harder film. Of course, you can't outdo that pimp suit Burt had in the original.

Anyway, OF COURSE Nicholas Cage was the best thing about Outcast.Also, I'm on board with you about Ryan Reynolds. I've felt that way ever since Drive.

Well, seeing how it's also on the poster, and it's one of the main still shots of the movie posted in numerous reviews and press photos; no, not really. It's a movie about a serial killer, and that happens pretty early on into the movie.

As far as reading too much into Vice, I conceived a premise similar to Vice after watching 50 First Dates: a brothel planet where the "hookers" didn't know they were hookers because they (like Drew Barrymore's character) were missing the ability to form long term memories. For truly anonymous yet ultimately authentic one-night stands. The twist would be that the head of this brothel was populating the planet with those "disappeared" and "executed" by other planets' regimes, believing this was more humane than simply death. He would mind-wipe them to make them docile and remove problematic memories; naturally, a side effect of the procedure is the inability to form any further long term memories and heightened libido.

The Voices was insane. And seeing a female director at the end credits made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Female horror directors are always awesome to see.

Want to see another uniquely bad movie where Thomas Jane plays a 90s Lambert role? Watch horribly produced, yet somewhat engaging Alines/The Borg ripoff mess based on a popular table top RPG called Mutant Chronicles (title of the rpg, a NES game based on it and the movie). The movie is not as bad as Vice for 3 reasons alone - all star B cast (Jane, Ron Perlman, Devon Aoki, Sean Pertweesome and unnecessary John Malkovich cameo), Jane's Plissken-esque energy in his performance and bleak as shit atmosphere. Everything else is beyond horrible (production and editing especially, although direction ain't good either). Still, worth checking out for big Sci-Fi and cast fans.

During 2707 steampunk future, there's a world war going on again. Alien cube lands on Earth and humanoid zombie-like rabid alien mutants pour out and attack and eat everything. Their armies destroy humanity and the last surviving colonies run off into space, but the president (Malkovich) orders disillusioned grizzled sargent Thomas Jane to lead a religious cult headed by Perlmann that's based around fighting the aliens to try to shut down do cube.

The movie is a mess beyond words, but some almost Z-grade crappy charm does shine through.

The punchline here is that this movie was not underbudgeted, they just wasted it.

the voices movie sounds fun. i like ryan he's cool he kinda freaks me out cause i feel like his face is made of plastic sometimes.

I enjoyed the Voices, it was an entertaining sit. I'm so fucking ready for Deadpool next year, glad Reynolds is starting to get back into the swing of things. He deserves good movies

Huh, not so long after finally getting to watch Boogie Nights I hear about Thomas Jane in this crap and then I read Burt Reynolds in the comments. Now I just wanna watch the actor's commentary instead.

On a side note, regarding another film with Vice that is at the very least better than this, the reason why that one had so many close up shots is because he really likes those according to his BN commentary.
