Huge fan of your episodes over here! Still trying to spread the word here in Germany! Keep up the good work & thanks for the entertainment! :)
I will never look at granny porn the same again.
Granny porn:have you ever peeled apart a hot grilled cheese.
Hey, you're lookin' kinda scrawny there, Brad. You need to eat a burger or somethin'. No, don't eat THAT, that one's BAD for you! That one will KILL you after a few bites! ...even though you show no sign of regaining the weight and get lots of exercise...wait, exercise is BAD for you, you're even wearing a Patrick Nagel shirt! Don't you know exercise KILLED Patrick Nagel when he had a heart attack while exercising to promote heart health awareness??
But seriously, Brad just can't win with this shit, can he? Incidentally, don't make granny porn remarks so shortly after we've seen Fat Grandma in a video...creepy thoughts enter my mind.
" Don't you know exercise KILLED Patrick Nagel when he had a heart attack while exercising to promote heart health awareness??"
Just like Jim Fix, the jogging advocate had a heart attack while jogging. lol
You literally sprained your ankle before this episode, and you're laughing it off! And then you eat the KFC equivalents of a drunk college student's stomach contents and the McGangBang, respectively.
You're amazing, Brad.
So then, White Castle has a breakfast menu.....
how aboot a vlog for "filth" "dom hemingway" and "nurse"?
they were all released last year. I'm sure FJ could find them for you.
Oh god....the horror, the horror....
...who the fuck am I kidding, I want one =/
Fast food is unhealthy for you.
I thought you should know.
We actually have a restaurant that serves a burger like Sarah had. It's called the alumni down here. Though, it is not as big as the one up there. That same place also has a challenge burger with 12 patties, 12 pieces of bacon, 14 slices of cheese and and a pound of fries. You have to eat it in 30 minutes.
New show? Brad reveiws medical injuries. When ever any of team snob gets hurt he reviews their injuries, DO IT!
Chicken flavored Brad Tries? Quite nice.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Brad.
My god Brad made his own secret menu sandwich... someone make a name for it.
The Triple Down, obviously.
Braddy J's Chicken Ankle Twister Extraordinaire
Chicken Little + Double Down = Chicken BIG
The Double Down with Insurance
I'm intrigued by your comments about a good beer selection Brad. I didn't think you were much of a beer drinker. Any particular beers or beer types you enjoy? There's a great shop in the city of York here in the UK who stock an insane selection of beers from all over the world and I have to say I've tried quite a few American craft beers in past few years and almost all of them have been outstanding!
I tried one of them when they came out here last year. The biggest thing, besides the grease, was that if I wanted to eat hot greasy chicken and sauce with my hands, why the hell would I want them to be the driest cut of the bird? Go for the thighs, more moist. Other than that, it's a case of "meh."
I really don't get the backlash on this thing. Seriously, no one would call it a heart attack if it was on a bun. No it's not good for you by any means, but the health nuts, and somehow even Brad, seem to have made it into something it's not.
I think I had two of them during the initial campaign and I liked them, but I can side with the opinion that they leave you feeling kinda off, certainly not something I would eat regularly.
Uh...I said many times in this that the attitude towards it would be different if it had 2 pieces of bread on it. I also mentioned that the backlash of the thing gets is largely due to how it looks, because it IS ridiculous looking. I even mentioned that the 2nd sandwich I had was probably just as bad for me as the first.
The "sauce" is mayo on the chicken little.
Haven't been to KFC for the better part of a decade but they got rid of the twisters? That was easily the best thing on their entire menu. Now my chances of going to a KFC are pretty much none since I wasn't a huge fan of anything besides maybe the big crunch. Do they still have that at least?
lol wow the first time i ever beat brad to something on this site.....
i tried it about 2 months after it came out. It tasted good but was a pain in the ass to eat because of the grease making it slippery
Down here in Australia, KFC still has the Twister wrap (though just called Twister). I get it whenever I'm there, unless its one of those days where the Double Down is there
Get well soon! Maybe you'll need some comfortable shoes to get it healed up.
No matter what you say, I freakin' dig the Double Down when I ate it the other day. There's something about the combination of boneless original recipe chicken, different cheeses, special sauce, and the bacon that made my taste buds sparkle. It's really heaven for me! I don't know what annoyed you more, the Double Down or the stupid #HowDoYouKFC on the box?
We get you love White Castle, but how about wearing a different hat for once? We've seen you eat more McDonalds than White Castle, so why not wear a McDonalds hat for a change? Just saying!
Yeah I am with the guy that said he doesn't get the people going all "Oh that is just stupid, it will kill you!", with this thing. It is totally a sandwich you just have one time and never eat it again. Also, no I don't get the whole high attitude that "Oh it looks all kinda of idiotic.", cause its just as stupid as the "Lettuce-wich" or the "Protein Style" gimmick of places just wrapping your shit in lettuce leaves, or putting it in a Tupperware container and just throwing it at you. The no bread thing is just this sandwiches gimmick and is not any more stupid then that, or even having a Big Mac that has 3 fucking pieces of bread. X3
Yeah I will have it once and never eat it again, By what is funnier is that Chicken Little sandwich is just a chicken strip in a small roll. Not joking at all, that is why that thing even exists is because most KFC's needed something to do with the excess chicken strips. Also one last thing, that Twister Wrap will never come back in the US after it caused one child to go brain dead due to e-coli. Yes the thing was delicious (Only had it 2 times or so), but because of that controversy the snack was taken off the menu for good in the US.
I pretty much said a lot of that in the video, a few times actually, only I used the double quarter pounder as an example, and not the Big Mac. But, saying the sandwich looks silly isn't acting all "high and mighty." Saying "uh Brad, you know you're poisoning yourself right" is acting high and mighty. It is a silly looking sandwich, that grilled cheese sandwich burger I showed a picture of is a silly looking sandwich. Silly looking isn't insulting, it can still taste good, even if it does look silly.
Okay I can respect that, just they way you where coming off was kinda like "Oh if you eat this your dumb." kinda thing, but I mean eh its just a fast food sandwich. Its just your usually so good about being funny without purposely singling out people and was just kinda like "Wow so really is insulting people who are eating this thing.", but its been a long day so I might have is interpreted. My bad.
Hope you ankle doesn't hurt too bad! :3
Speaking of grilled cheese ridiculousness, you guys should roadtrip it to Columbus and do a Melt Bar and Grilled episode. Maybe someone will even be up for the Parmageddon challenge.
I don't understand why they would not release it in the states anymore. Considering the ecoli case was in Australia. And that is one of the reasons why fast food companies have lobbyists. To remind people any bad things that fast food companies do is the fault of the customer. That sounds like a myth you heard and not something that is really true.
yes brad. please tell us about your body in intimate detail :P
in all serious though please take it easy for afew days :P
i'll take the rest :P back in uni i would essentially order a half size one of those with buns
That is a shame they got rid of the grilled option. That was probably one of the healthiest fast food items in existence. Especially for people on low carb diet stuff.
Don't mean to be "that guy" but it was revealed the grilled one was some how worse then the fried one when they did have it, during the Double Downs first run. Calorie wise the thing was about the same, maybe a little less (around 200 or so less really), but the sodium content in it was was almost double that of the fried one!
Double down now. Double bypass later.
Aw man, you're just trying this? I had one when they first came out. It was so good, but I could feel the grease in my stomach. My friends and I call it the heart attack sandwich.
sucks about your foot, I've had those before. Although it usually when I'm going upstairs and in a hurry.
One thing though. The Double Down here in Canada, was much smaller than the one you ate.
This is a sandwich for me,because I hate bread.I already did sandwiches like this(a piece of one meat between two pieces of another meat),so Im glad its a commercial thing.
Oh my God! The Twister wraps were the only thing I would eat at KFC when I was a kid! I'm glad you reminded me of those, and I can't believe they got rid of them!
Yeesh, a twisted ankle and you walked it off just to make a video for us. And it was still upbeat and funny! You're a trooper! How do we send you things to try? Is there a P.O. Box, or do we need to go to a convention to deliver presents?
Also, I swear, you guys would love Oregon. There's a food cart that specializes in crazy grilled cheese sandwich items, including that hamburger. I'm not a beer drinker, but everyone's pretty proud of the local brewed stuff, and it's supposed to be pretty good.
Hope your foot feels better, but if it falls off, maybe you can get a sweet Segueway and ride around on that! 8D
Why am I not surprised Sarah has tattoos? God, Jewish girls are hot.
Anyway, I fucked up my angle...somehow...this last winter, and was barely able to walk for about three months. God, that sucked.
I actually like the Double Down, but it should be a seasonal item at the most. It's definitely something you shouldn't eat more than once or twice a year.
C'mon Brad it is obvious why they leave off the bread. It is marketed towards the Low Carb Crowd.
I hope your ankle gets better soon. I did the same thing to mine about a decade ago and every once in awhile it still hurts.
Hang in there.
i actually like the double down, the spicy one looks much better
Goddammit, Brad. Take a bit more care of yourself. :(
I can relate on being very prone to rolling my ankles and turning my feet black and blue and purple.
On the subject of the actual video: the grilled chicken double down is really not that unhealthy as ridiculous as it seems...but apparently the KFC I went into the other day was mystified at the fact that I asked for a grilled version of it. WTF???
Thanks for being a trooper and going out on your bad ankle anyway to do the review. I dunno if the one in Australia is different but it doesn't taste that great its drier and not as cheesy, but anyway thanks for hobbling out to review a sandwich that really is a bit of novelty "meh". I really love the brad tries stuff and it was great to see another one.
It may be the delirium talking, but I laughed way too hard at the last five or so minutes of this video. Would be great if we could see something of a more regular schedule of Brad Tries episodes. Really entertaining, if only for the schadenfreude. Doritos released three new "mystery" tester flavors (of course the ingredients on the back are kind of clues) that you could do a video on. You know, come to think of it, I did yell at you through the monitor not to put the chicken between the chicken (yo dawg), so it probably is the delirium.
And use frozen peas, not ice. The best compact you can get for the money and safer to use against skin than a bag of ice.
For a dignified eating experience I recommend having your dick hang out while eating. And filming everything.
Too bad you didn't do this video sitting in the wheelchair.
When I sprained my ankle it was so bad the hospital staff thought I waited 3 days before coming to the hospital... when in fact I was there 15 minutes after the sprained happened.
It had a swollen bump as big as a tennis ball, no f**king joke. I had tube a cast on my leg for more than 4 weeks, and my ankle was black, blue and red, and still hurt in the morning months after it healed.
I feel your pain.
the broken face, the broken foot and now the steps it brought me to the image of brad walking around wearing purple with a glass cane calling himself mr. glass.
3 minutes in and I like what I see. Too bad for your ankle, now show more foot
You should feed it to Lloyd.
Awww, you didn't name your creation, the triple-monstrous-down
Most disturbing thing in the video: the pink in the beef patty in the grilled cheese burger. Seriously, if you don't have enough time to cook ground beef all the way through then make it with smaller patties. Just double up on them to make up for the size difference.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to blue foot Cinema Snob week!
Seriously? You're "disturbed" by a burger having a pink center?
I find his lack of taste disturbing.
Then again, some people like the taste of charcoal. Who am I to judge.
I think anyone who has taken a foodsafe course would find pink inside of meat disturbing.
Chris, I think if someone had taken a decent food safety course they'd know that a burger that's still pink in the middle is totally safe to eat so long as it's reached the correct temperature during cooking. A lot of good quality burger joints will give you the option of having the burger still pink in middle and it's fine so long as they use a meat thermometer to ensure a safe temperature is reached.
David, naturally if it's safe it's safe, but there is a reason a single under cooked patty among dozens being made an hour can make a whole restaurant have to shut down for good.
Ouch Brad. You remember when Spoony got a fracture during that donation drive the same way? Consider going to the doctor's office. You never know.
Really though, about the DD, I worked in a liquor store next to a super market in a small town where people would roll their grocery cart in to get beer. The more overweight people always have carts full of cola, potato chips, frozen pizzas etc. and did nothing but watch TV and chug beer after work (I had one guy shaped like a pear who didn't speak so much as wheeze and had a medicalert bracelet. He'd buy a twelve pack of Bud every day and pull 4 or 5 single cans out of his pocket too. EVERY DAY.) It's not the food that's dangerous, it's the lifestyle that tends to go with it. If you eat like shit every day and don't exercise. As if a fucking DD is any worse than eating like that all day every day. In the 9 months I worked at that store, at least half a dozen regular customers died of heart attacks.
The double down looks so retarded. I never had one for that reason.
Am i the only one to notice that if the chicken is replacing the bread it's a sandwich of nothing but bacon and mayo? Also after checking it's apparently not that bad when compared to other fast foods at 540 calories, compared to a big mac at 550 and a whopper at 660, and the Wendy's baconater at 980.
I feel responsible for the double down.... back in 2005 me and my friends got really high, so we went to McDonolds and got 2 chicken sandwiches and a mcdouble and threw away the bread. we called it the Super Karlton. we didn't know what we unleashed on the world.......
having said that, i'm gonna get me some pot, a double down and a baconator. wish me luck.
It is my favorite McDonalds food, I highly recommend it. I like the quarter pounder version more than the crispy/grilled chicken version but both are good.
Wasn't the Double Down a way for KFC to appeal to the people were into the Atkins Diet? To me, there needs to be something more than just the chicken to make me feel full. Bread, potatoes, rice, a vegetable side, what have you, there needs to be something more than just a couple of chicken pieces.
Come to Chile, KFC here still has the chicken wraps xD
If you have old non working ps3 controllers lying around i would gladly take them of your hands.
Simple carbs ie white bread (no whole grains, tons of sugar via corn syrup) is a hell of a lot worse for you than meat and fat so fuck it. it's not like it would be any healthier on a sandwich, it's just more up front about it.
Oh man Brad, you need to visit Australia one day. Twisters are a normal everyday item at KFC here. It's about the only thing I will go buy from there no as most everything else makes me feel horrible.
I tried the Double Down a few years ago. All I really remember was the raging headache in the aftermath.
lol you know your not going to put that back in the fridge it is going to sit on your filthy ass floor or your cluttered coffee table for months till Dave ends up eating it.
Just as long as we get A Very Special Let's Talk where Brad discusses Dave getting his stomach pumped.
"So, I'm driving him home, his head is lolled against the window, he's drooling all over himself, and he's mumbling something about 'Man of Steel...why do people keep liking it...'"
I'll try it once, this made me hungry!
I have crazy fast metabolism, so when I get fast food I usually get two sandwiches (don't judge). I'm sure I can handle one Double Down. Looks really tasty.
Hope your ankle gets better!
The one time I had a Double Down, I bought 2 hamburger buns with it. When I got home, I split the thing in half and I made myself two sandwiches I called Breakfast and Lunch.
Now you should go make a McDouble Down. Simplistically enough, get a McDouble from Mickey D's and place a Double Down between the beef patties. It's a far more horrific take on the McGangbang..
I actually looked up nutrition on this thing and it's only 540 calories with 53g of protein.
For someone like me, who is limited to 2000 calories and must ingest 150g of protein a day, that's ... really not that bad for a fast food item.
In fact, http://consumerist.com/2010/04/20/10-fast-food-items-worse-for-you-than-the-kfc-double-down/
3 fast food vids in a row.
You're not abandoning the disgusting, obscure, crazy, and completely vile drinks, are ya, Brad? :P
Chicken Littles themselves are not new either; they had them way back in the...I want to say late 80s, but I'll go with Mid-90s? I think? I was a kid back then, that's all I remember xD--and yeah, I enjoyed the original ones more, to be honest...the Chicken Littles of today are nothing more than one of their extra-crispy chicken strips on a bun, the original was a bit smaller, more like the size of a slider, came with a square chicken patty, was on a sesame seed bun, and had lettuce instead of pickles. C: Granted, I am a fan of lettuce on my sandwiches as much as you appear to enjoy pickles (I.E. I usually take the lettuce off), but I digress. x3
Man....the chicken and waffle sandwich reminded me of when I was living in Texas during my college years. Brad, have you ever been to a Whataburger in your life? There's a breakfast sandwich there, the honey-butter chicken biscuit...well, it's exactly as the name says. You'd likely love it, I was addicted to the damn things as soon as they were introduced to me, and its one of the few things I dearly miss about that state.
A local hot dog joint that is 2 blocks from my house called Madvek's in Hammond Indiana used to have the greatest thing ever, and it would be perfect for "Brad Tries", it was called "The Mad Dog" . It was hotdog with chili and mozzarella cheese in a kind of egg roll like shell and deep fried to perfection. It was awesome. the place is still here, but they stopped carrying it prob about 20 years ago. thats how good it was, 20 years later and Im still pist about it. I was there eating one time and a guy who lived here when he was growing up and moved to California and got married had returned and made a trip to Madveks with his wife to get a Mad Dog. He was crushed they stopped serving it, but the place said thhat where they had got them from stop carrying them or something like that. There was nothing better than a Mad Dog and a large Bubble-Up, it helped with the eventual heartburn.
There's a couple of guys on youtube named Cult Moo who deep fried the double down. Apparently it's amazing.
Lol i heard of that sandwich ´, it was on german television O_O
also did anybody else imagine brian sitting on the floor after this episode eatign the DD whispering to himself:' I'm a dignified person'
Personally, the idea of a sandwich made of chicken isn't strange to me in the slightest. I just kinda figured they were going for the 'low carb' thing.
That said, I did grow up in a house where meatlover's pizza meant a crust made out of hamburger. Not because we were ridiculous people but simply due to the fact that neither my mother or sister could eat bread products.
Whether strange, gimmicky, foreign, or decades old... Brad tries it!
