I think I would rather eat the dried insects from your earlier episode, than ever try the Cappuccino Chips again!
I can count all the way to potato.
That sounds like something an obKnoxious, Jackass star would say!
I tried the cappuccino flavored one last month and I was not crazy about it. Luckily, my Mountain Dew Baja Blast came to the rescue.
haha 4 completely different flavors up here in Canada. Bacon poutine, Jalapeno mac' n cheese, Cinnamon bun, tzatziki.
Bacon Poutine tastes like bacon chips. So if you like bacon chips that's basically what you are getting but with a hint of cheese but it's very very light. Where's the gravy taste?
Jalapeno mac' n cheese tastes exactly like the old dutch Jalapeno and cheddar chips, nothing exciting.
Cinnamon bun is just gross. it tastes like brown sugar then has a potato after taste (not potato chip just potato) and it made me sick to my stomach. Yuck Yuck Yuck.
Tzatziki was OK, it tastes like what it says it tastes like. I don't mind tzatziki but it's definitely something meant to be put on a sandwich/wrap along with a bunch of other stuff or as a dip and not just eaten on it's own. It's was just kind of bland and after a while all you taste is salty cucumber.
I actually liked the cinnamon bun flavour. Went down to the states and bought the Lays US test flavours a few weeks ago.
Wasabi kettle chips are the best of the 8 test flavours. I think cinnamon bun is slightly better than cappachino. Last year's winner, the cheesey garlic bread is quite tasty as Brad says.
Cinnamon is the only one my group of friends all likes and I love, the tzatziki I couldn't even swallow, the other two are just there.
Actually the bacon poutine didn't taste like Lays bacon chips, else I would have disliked it (find them pretty bland), tasted more like bacon and gravy.
Did taste the Tzatziki one but the taste of cucumber was way too strong to my taste, even compared to the pita place that use tzatziki (the other I go to use a garlic sauce, which I prefer, but the tzatziki one got better gyro)
Cinnamon just seemed like a bad flavor to me.
While mac'n'cheese the flavor was gone by the time I would have went for one. (they were in grocery for like 2 weeks here)
I love the cinnamon bun and jalapeno cheese flavors.
Bacon poutine was just kind of eh, tzatziki was downright terrible.
I'm bummed that Cappuccino is the only one I can find in stores right now, since everything else sounds fantastic.
I've found that the mango "salsa" chip is too much mango and too little salsa. I've yet to try the Cappucino...really don't want to.
Brad it's mango salsa not mango and salsa.
I did try the bacon stuffed crust over the weekend. It was pretty tasty even for someone like me who doesn't mind a bacon pizza every once in a while. I'm more of a pepperoni and cheese guy myself.
Whatever the "very unsittable" movie you're watching to end Musical March (in September), I'm guessing it's either Can't Stop the Musical or the 80s version of A Chorus Line!
Sorry I meant Can't Stop the Music!
Am I the only one hoping it would be "Xanadu" even though I know it's going to be "Can't Stop the Music"?
i want it to be "Paint Your Wagon"
Lays are known as Walkers in the UK, and currently have some really strange limited edition flavours available. Hotdog with Ketchup, Cheesy Beans on Toast, Ranch Raccoon, Chip Shop Chicken Curry, Pulled Pork with BBQ Sauce and Fajita Steak. If you're interested, I could ship some over to the states for you to try?
Those all sound AMAZING.
To be precise, Lays bought out Walkers over two decades ago. Weirdly, they kept the Walkers name but stuck the Lays logo under it. I remember the old logo that was a stick figure going for a walk.
Ranch raccoon ?
Is raccoon something else in the UK then the garbage digging musteloidea we have in North America ?
Nope, a raccoon to you is a raccoon to us. They even did a Hedgehog flavour of the Walkers crisps once, along with English Breakfast flavour, I tried that... it was awful.
And none of them taste anything like the flavours.
Cool flavors....like the sound of all of them (especially the Wasabi)! Even the Cappuccino, which is the least interesting of the group, has a lot of cinnamon = helpful & healthy.
I like the Wasabi, its my favorite. Although I can see Bacon & Cheddar being really popular because well its bacon and cheese. Almost everything is better with bacon and cheese.
Oh I agree, I love the Wasabi chips (which means it probably won't win). I tried the Bacon Mac flavor and the closest comparison I could think of is a really weak-ass BBQ chip.
Not a fan of salsa and I'm not touching Cappuccino.
Oh why did you have to mention Jean Reno's Wasabi!?
That movie disappointed me so much!
It had Jean on the cover with a big .454 revolver, set in Japan, and produced by Luc Besson shortly after the Transporter came out if I remember. Sounds at least a little exciting right? HA!
Except for the golf scene, Ironically, the most boring sport stems the most interesting part of the movie!...I'm wrong about that. Curling's more boring than golf.
"What have I done, I've thrown my vote away."
That made me laugh way harder than was necessary.
Last Fall/Winter Pringles had a Pecan Pie flavor, and it was the greatest chip flavor I ever tasted. When I first saw them, I thought they would be disgusting, but they were so amazing. Unfortunately it seems most people didn't give them a chance because the shelves were full of them, and they ended up being clearanced, so I doubt we will ever see them again.
I liked the poutine flavored chips.
Haven't had a chance to try the others :(
The Wasabi Ginger and Mango Salsa ones sound great but Cappuccino just sounds weird. I know I won't like the Bacon Mac n Cheese because I can't stand cheese flavoured crisps but it would be awesome if they had somehow got the pasta flavour in it. I love Apple/Cherry/Lemon Meringue Pie flavour stuff if they get the crust flavour in. I really want to see Brad do the Bean Boozled Challenge
I'm still pissed at Lay's for ignoring my suggestion of buffalo bacon flavored chips.
is it too much to ask for a Korean BBQ chip!
Showed my dad your St. Pepper's review and he suggested that you do another move called "Doctor Detroit".
You can all go to hell, the cappuccino chips are easily the best of the bunch.
They had this contest last year with these flavours:
1) Maple Moose
2) Mac & Cheese with Ketchup
3) Ceasar Salad
Maple Moose, the WORST of the bunch, IMO, won. It was awful. I much preferred either the Ceasar or Perogi.
Perogi was my favourite. My wife and I think the vote was rigged, if so then Tzatziki will win this time
My favorite was the Mango Salsa, and I also really liked the Wasabi Ginger. The Bacon Mac n' Cheese was good, but kind of generic, and the Cappucino was okay, but nothing I'd ever get again.
Ick on all four.
I was in a sex shop once that had sex flavored potato chips. On the bag of Anal flavored ones it said "Taste Like Shit!"
I think of that every time I see these flavored Lays
Reminds me of my recipe for "Peter North"-flavored potato chips. There's nothing special about the chips at all - they're just plain, ordinary potato chips. The secret's in the dip. But I'll never tell.
Went to the store today, and they only had the Cappuccino ones. WTF? I guess they think my town is full of coffee-drinking hipsters. Which might be true.
Either that, or they're just not selling. Same thing happened with the Sriracha chips last year.
Brad, Lay's is requesting that people submit flavor review videos on the "Do Us a Flavor" website. This is by far the best one I've seen, so you might want to submit it.
I personally loved the cappuccino and bacon mac & cheese flavored.
I wish Keebler still made chips.
Oh, and you got some schmutz on the lens.
Originally in Japan the Ginger is used as a palate cleanser, so you eat it in between dishes. Also it's totally ok to use your bare hands if you can't use sticks
I've seen a lot of the cappuccino ones where I live, but I haven't tried them yet. I can sort of see how cinnamon on chips could work, more so if they'd added sugar to get the savory/sweet thing going. No wonder they were bland.
Nice to see Brad finally get corporate sponsorship...
Yeah because he's never done videos on Pepsi, Coca Cola, McDonald's, or any other main stream company in the past.
Wasabi Ginger was my favorite.
Cappuccino was surprising because I thought I wouldn't like it.
The Bacon Mac n Cheese were okay, and not greasy like I expected them to be.
I did not like the Mango Salsa.
I did a review of these myself on the YouTubes a couple months ago, myself (under this username; give it a watch if you would kindly). My thoughts:
-Mango Salsa (Wavy): not bad at first, then it rapidly descends into air freshener territory. Even the waves couldn't help it in the end. Did not and would not buy again. Actually I gave the bottom half of the bag to my dog. She was indifferent about them.
-Cappuccino: once I read the ingredients, the buttah really stood out, but even though it wasn't completely offensive, the potato taste dulled any enjoyment rather quickly. I think there's still a bag sitting on my fridge, so yeah, would not buy again.
-Cheddar Bacon: because the internet loves bacon and 'Merikkuh, this one will probably win. It's a pretty good chip, after all, but it feels too close to the Cheesy Garlic Bread that won last time. Bought a second time, and might buy once more if it's in a value size.
-Wasabi Ginger (Kettle Cooked): this is delicious, due in no small part to the choice of it being kettle cooked, and since this is the only finalist chip that was chosen as such, that immediately gives it major points for me. Love the wasabi (though a lot of flavor comes through with the soy sauce--again, ingredients), though it could have had a bit more ginger in there. Overall, they captured this flavor the best and it is by far the most original without causing an existential crisis (just... Cappuccino... what were you guys thinking?). I've purchased several bags since these came out, and actually I was munching on some while watching this video. Interestingly, this is also the only flavor I still am easily able to find next to the other regular chips, and asking a stock person at one store they said that the others weren't selling as well. Really hoping this flavor goes the distance. Fingers crossed!
I kind of want to buy you a pair of Scissors.
Brad should've bought a bag of Snyder's dill pickle chips. :P
Why has Brad never tried Jim Ross's products? Is it because it would be a pro-wrestling themed episode. I want him to try these and Flamming Brain to try it to. I got to know. http://shop.wwe.com/Jim-Ross/superstar-alumni-jimross,default,sc.html
Wasabi Ginger was my favorite out of the four, and was exactly how Brad described it. I'm still saying that I'm gonna snort straight wasabi like Steve-O in Jackass: The Movie. Bacon Mac n' Cheese I liked to, I think it was equal with the cheese and bacon flavoring. Cappuccino was actually better then I thought it would be, to me it taste like Cinnamon Pancakes. I did not like the Mango Salsa, it was to sweet for my taste and the aftertaste is alittle like cilantro, and I fucking hate cilantro. So in short:
1. Wasabi Ginger
3. Bacon Mac n' Cheese
4. Mango Salsa
I adore chrisps or Chips are you Americans call them but back in England they had a bag that was flavoured Chilli and Choclate flavour and it was the most revolting thing i have ever tasted.
If i had a list of favourite chrisp flavours mine would be
1. Pickled Onion
2. Worcester Sauce
3. Ham and Mustard
4. Salt and Vinegar
the cappucino chips aren't that bad actually and i usually get two bags of them
Personally, I'd be very surprised if Bacon Mac & Cheese didn't win. Unfortunately the only two flavors I've been able to find around here are the mango salsa and cappuccino, and I didn't like either of them. I usually like mango-flavored things but the flavor was too strong. And maybe it's just because I'm not a coffee drinker, but I couldn't even finish my single-serving bag of the cappuccino chips because they tasted so awful.
Fun fact for those who didn't know: The ginger is actually something you eat between diffirent sushi pieces. It's purpose is kinda to reset so the diffirent sushi flavours don't overrides eachother.
I'm still kinda pissed they haven't made my "Sweet Mustard Potato Salad" flavor I submitted last year. Maybe it's just too solid of an idea for them to try with this "vote for flavor" thing.
Haven't tried the Bacon Mac N Cheese yet, but I've tried the other three flavors. Never had actual mango salsa so I can't judge the flavor, but it did have a nice refreshing mango fruit taste and the wave chip was a good choice for it. Wasabi and Ginger; love the kettle cooked for the flavor, had a nice taste of wasabi when I first ate it, but tasted mostly of soy sauce afterwards and hardly ginger. Sadness, I had looked forward to trying that the most. The cappuccino was very 'meh' to me and I'd probably crush 'em and eat it on ice cream if I bought them again. Not sure I'd vote on any of the favors, but my dad loved the wasabi so.... ^-^
Ok, Tony Packo's is from Toledo not Chicago, ya'll from Illinois always are trying to take the few interesting things we have from Ohio.
That being said I was born in Ohio but raised in Georgia so I dont really give to much of a shit just got excited when you mentioned something from Tony Packo's then made a Chicago reference which quickly made me disappointed. Anyways grip being said I dont know why I enjoy your videos, but I do so please keep them up and well wishes to you good sir!!
Hi Brad, and everyone else watching this video.
The ginger you are served with Sushi is not suppose to be eaten WITH the sushi.
The ginger is used to clear your palette between rolls, or before enjoying the next piece of sushi/sashimi.
Thanks for another good video.
You may be surprised by this, but the Wasabi Ginger was the one that ended up winning.
Wasabi Ginger won, oddly enough. I don't mind, they were my personal favorite.
I didn't hate the cappuccino ones, but they weren't good either. If I had to eat them again, I guess I'd be okay with it.
Whether strange, gimmicky, foreign, or decades old... Brad tries it!
