This made me geek out a bit, so I thought I'd share it with you. A portion of my "Chillerama" review where I gave a shout out to Jim Ward was played on "The Stephanie Miller Show," to Mr Jim Ward himself. Also funny is, I don't think they expected me to drop the F Bomb at the end of the clip.

Why is it that people from the USA get so upset over the word 'fuck'? Seriously, I want to know. Is it because of some cultural or historical reason? I, being from Europe, find this very strange. It's seems cursing on radio or television is considered to be more offensive even than showing explicit gore or sex on tv. And why specifically the word fuck? Does anyone know?

I guess because America's very puritanical when it comes to anything involving sex, and fuck means to copulate. As for the whole not minding violence...well, we're nation that was pretty much founded through bloodshed. I guess it's just something we're used to. It all probably goes a lot deeper than what I'm telling you, but that's pretty much the basics.

its decency standards. we were founded on freedom of expression, and most people take that to heart. violence happens, and who the fuck are we to censor it? we don't allow real deaths on tv or show real dead bodies often, but some times its appropriate given context.
with print, there was a time when there were more news papers than radio stations and tv stations, so those dont get censored, and for a long time, tv was just a moral code that they tried their hardest to follow.
but you have to keep in mind this is a nation that at one point got swept up in religious douchebagery that they outlawed alcohol. most people against showing violence, are religious.
remember the united states has the worlds oldest children, or at least close to if not the oldest. parents, religious one doubly so don't want to think their kid from the time puberty hits to the time they are 18 and legally "adults" they they dont get wood or get wet.
we are a nation so afraid of sex that we had our kids circumcised, and yes, it was an anti masturbatory measure back in the day, and now its an extra 500$ the hospital can charge.
the word fuck is from a lesser group of hard core religious zealots who want to police the air waves. with the fcc openly admitting they want to go after payed cable at some point to censor that too.
it fucking sickens me that we have to pay money to see uncensored anything. there are more radio stations and tv stations than print where i live, and thats without paying for cable. but o fuck me, i cant hear a bad word because some lazy cunts (male or female, i use the word as a harsher from of pussy) cant turn the fucking channel.

Yes, I understand there are quite some religious zealots in the US, something that is far less of a problem in Europe. (We have zealots of different political groups instead, like socialists and eco-terrorists etc., but that's an other story.) But why is it specifically the word 'fuck' that is problematic. It seems to me that even words like 'damn' or 'goddammit' are more accepted and those should look like they are more offensive to them. Well, of course one cannot expect logical consistency from religious people...

Also, several European and Asian countries censor stuff all the time. For some odd reason, people believe only America does it. For instance, the "Video Nasty" list are movies that were banned from the UK but were proudly shown in drive-ins in the US.

Oh come on. I'm also "from Europe" and people freak out just as much about swearing before the watershed- in the UK, at least.
Of course the US is different from Europe in different ways, but I've always found the notion that they are ten times more puritanical about EVERYTHING hilariously misguided. There's clearly just as much variation among countries on this continent, too.

You really deserve the advertisement you can get /probablyfanmode because you put out really entertaining videos, even the ones where you just sit behind (or in front off) the camera.
BTW just watched the movie Drive half way through with my dad, and he fell asleep because there wasn't any action on screen. I hope the movie will get on it's feet or else we will try out Killer Elite (I will watch Drive till the end, but it's hard to find a movie to both enjoy). BTW thanks for the tip on Cowboys VS Alien it's the kind of action/sci-fi me and my dad can both enjoy,, if you or anyone has more recommendations it would be very much appreciated.

A Geek Out on something like this is perfectly understandable. Hell, if I ever heard my voice come at me over a anything I frequently tuned into, everyone I know would have it shoved in their faces within minutes, but I am, admittedly, rater vain. Congrats on the shout out on the shout out Brad.

though i've never heard of this show, cause i don't listen to the radio mainly. it's i'm sure quite an honor for him to appear on the show. at least in clip form.
plus he was able to tell Jim Ward how talented he is. without even doing a damn thing. i also agree with it. i don't see the big deal with the word FUCK, i mean i get NOT wanting little kids to say that. that i do get. but what is the big Fucking deal?
i do also think it's quite funny that they didn't listen to that beforehand. that's a 1st. congrats Brad. on getting prolly a LOT more fans by this as well.

It's their screener's fault for not catching the "fuck" and bleeping it out. How hard can that be aren't they a professional radio show. I know they dumped it, but if the person who pulled the clip simply listened to it PAID attention and bleeped it, no dumping would have been necessary.

Yeah...it was very cool when they replayed it in the 3rd hour...added some stuff and of course didn't have to hit the dump button.... then for just a split second, you could hear Jim Ward doing Brad's voice!
